"Really enjoyed it and wish it was longer"
He is a great writer and narrator. I loved hearing the journey of his life and his growth. His stories are all from my generation. So many of his stories made me stop and think..."I know where I was when that happened." Many interesting inside stories. Love how he changes his voice for the different characters! Now I want to go back and watch all his shows again.
"I loved it. I listen again and again."
I believe him and what he has to say is comforting and makes sense. I can write nothing that would do it justice.
"I could not stop listening!"
The author does a great job of putting the reader in the place of the main character. You feel the same confusion and hunger for information that she does. I enjoyed the suspense!
"Struggled through the most unlikeable characters!"
The story was interesting and kept me reading, but the characters where so unlikeable! Such a hateful family. The main character was probably the worst human being of all and I struggled to care about any of them. I suffered through to the end just to get all of my questions answered, but wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
"powerful"
I had to take a break from it, sit down and make myself a cup of tea toward the end. It was hard to take it all in. You can really feel his guilt and his pain. Very powerful and moving story.
Krakauer for his best effort to recall exactly what happened, even if it doesn't put him in the best light.
The part where the climber left for dead, wakes up, climbs down the mountain and into his tent on his own.
The realization that his memories about Hall were all wrong. That he never saw him come down the mountain, it was someone else. This guilt continued/continues to haunt him. He couldn't even bring himself to call Hall's wife and it doesn't sound like she ever forgave him. Since this is a true story, I can not say that I am entertained by it. But is shows his humanity and you just want to cry for him, for the family, for the whole tragedy. I can't even imagine being there listening to the radio transmissions as everything unfolded. It is too much to take in.
"Loved it!"
Great narration! Very entertaining. I couldn't put it down. Although the ending was very satisfying, I feel attached to all of the characters and want to know what is next for them. Great book that keeps you wanting more.
