"Classic OSC, very enjoyable"
Emily Janice Card delivers a great performance that made listening easy. The story was predictable, but still enjoyable. It lives you wanting more of this kind of work from Orson Scott Card!
"Excellent book, well worth your time!"
I expected this to read like a political book, or a history book, but was drawn in to Being George Washington as surely as if I was hearing a Historical Fiction Novel. Learning so much about the character and integrity of Washington, and the need for us to emulate those characteristics was uplifting!
"Good, especially on Pride... Not great on theology"
C.S. Lewis is a master and this book show it. His discussion of the Sin of Pride is excellent. It is heavily quoted by Ezra Taft Benson in his landmark address on the Sin of Pride.
Lewis' only failing here is when he went into the topics he said other suggested he avoid. He doesn't have theology right -- his ideas on the Trinity are completely wrong and expectedly ignorant of current knowledge of the doctrine's extra-Biblical origins in Greek Philosophy.
Nevertheless something all serious Christians should read.
"Great listen, great book!"
Orson Scott Card delivers again in this book. It may be meant for teens, but all will enjoy it. This is a great book, worth the time. Can't wait for the sequel!
"Simply Awesome!"
Orson Scott Card delivering again! Can't wait for the sequel! This is a great story for young and old (or in my case getting old) alike!
"Couldn't make it through this one...Loved Atlas..."
I couldn't get through this one, but I loved and recommend Atlas Shrugged. This one is faintly disgusting. The rape scene, and the tolerance for it in particular. She is a blatant Atheist in this and it shows much more so than in Atlas Shrugged. She seems to be putting her own fetishes up for display in the Fountainhead.
All Americans should read Atlas Shrugged. Nobody need bother with the Fountainhead.
"Unlike Anansi Boys, this was just crude"
This book/audiobook is disgusting. I gave up part way in and refused to listen to any more. The author constantly uses foul language and very descriptive non-traditional sex to tell a story apparently not good enough to keep you interested if you are not drawn to the gutter. This is especially disappointing since the author did such a great job with Stardust and Anansi boys, and several other books.
"Great sequel!"
Like the 1st book, this one is great. Looking forward to book 3.
"Simply Excellent, a new idea..."
This is a great book with a great narrator! I'm buying the paper book too, just to get my children to read it. It's a new idea told very well. I can't wait to hear/read the 2nd book.
"Great idea ruined by language and crude sex"
The story idea behind this book is great, but I couldn't finish it. I was finally overwhelmed by the disgusting. The author apparently doesn't realize that while sex may sell, most people have enough of an imagination that they don't want details, especially when it made disgusting. Furthermore, constant use of foul language makes you question the author's capability with vocabulary.
