In this, his last novel, Saramago daringly reimagines the characters and narratives of the Bible through the story of Cain. Condemned to wander forever after he kills Abel, he is whisked around in time and space. He experiences the almost-sacrifice of Isaac by Abraham, the Tower of Babel, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Joshua at the battle of Jericho, Jobe's ordeal, and finally Noah's ark and the Flood.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lillith as I've always wondered about the original liberated woman as well as the stuff of nightmare legends.

What about Kevin Pariseau’s performance did you like?

His range and ability to assume varies roles with a change in pitch or tone that made for easy listening.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes however on the second night I stayed up late to catch the ending.

    Any additional comments?

Not for everyone and not overly deep but worth the price.

In this sweeping narrative, which takes us from the Stone Age to the Information Age, Robert Wright unveils an astonishing discovery: there is a hidden pattern that the great monotheistic faiths have followed as they have evolved. Through the prisms of archeology, theology, and evolutionary psychology, Wright's findings overturn basic assumptions about Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, and are sure to cause controversy.

    Story
If you could sum up The Evolution of God in three words, what would they be?

The book explains and entertains how God evolved from the first shaman to Moses and beyond and how God and religion continue to change.

What did you like best about this story?

The emphasis on the Bible, Koran and Christianity with insight as to how the various religions changed with the times in quest of converts. The role of Salvation throughout all aspects of life.

Which character – as performed by Arthur Morey – was your favorite?

Great performance, easy to follow and again one of my best to sleep to, should you fall asleep. I listen on my Ipad without headphones.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes but you will want to savor. The material is vast but not so deep as to bog you down.

    Any additional comments?

I have various books from Karen Armstong, Jack Miles but for me this book tops them all if you want a fresh perspective on humans and God.
