I recently started listening to books, and decided to listen to Outlander - a book that is on my Top 10 reading list. I was familiar with the story, having read it twice over the years (the whole series actually), but listening to it on Audible gave it a completely different dimension. The story itself is a very complex, rollercoaster ride of events and being able to listen to Davina's interpretation of the characters made it even more rich and compelling. There are things that I didnt pick up on, innuendos and details that I read over myself, but were easily recognizable listening to this great story.
The books central story is from Claire's POV, but Davina does such a good job of creating Jamie, Murtaugh and other male characters that you forget it is from a female first person perspective. I have thought about suggesting the book to my husband, but wasnt sure if he would relate to the story as well since it is written in Claire's voice (in the early books anyway - some of the later books in the series are written from several characters POV) - I can honestly say that I now wouldnt hesitate to suggest it for him.
Davina not only recreates the characters and voices, but relays the emotions in the dialogue as well. Since I am an audible "newbie", I had not realized that audio books were so thorough. The few others I have listened to were not as good - Kudos Davina!
