"A great book BUT......"
I love Jon Kabat-Zinn and this is an excellent book. Also, I enjoyed his narration, HOWEVER, why oh why do audiobook producers add music to the narration??!! It always, (no I'm serious, ALWAYS) interferes/competes with the narration and sometimes makes it next to impossible to hear the WORDS being spoken. This is so aggravating to me. I don't play music when I read a book, why would I want to listen to music when I listen to a book? Apart from this completely distracting issue I recommend the audiobook based on what the author wrote, not the production. I suppose I'll have to buy the book as well so I can read the portions that I couldn't hear because of the music. It's really maddening.
"DIDN'T WANT IT TO END!!!"
HANDS DOWN one of the best books I have EVER read-and I'm not a young adult!! I'm 49 and I LOVE this book and I LOVE Allan Corduner's narration. The most perfect marriage of story and narrator. Thank you Markus Zusak!!!!! You're a brilliant writer!!! Thank you Allan Corduner!!! You're an amazing story teller! I didn't want this book to end and when it did I cried because I missed it so badly. These characters feel like a part of me and I am a part of them. The story feels like a part of me and I'm a part of it. It was a profound experience.
"I really wanted to like this but...."
I tried so hard to enjoy this book but I was so distracted by the irritating voice of the narrator that I couldn't keep my mind on the story. I finally gave up about 3/4 of the way through the book. I agree with one of the other reviewers-it sounded like a bad Cary Grant imitation. I'm disappointed because I'd love to listen to another Chief Inspector Gamache book by Louise Penny but they're all narrated by the same man. I'm disappointed.
"LOVE AGATHA!!"
I love the audible Agatha Christie books particularly those narrated by Hugh Fraser. This is another excellent one.
