Gripping thriller set in post-WWI victorious Germany. Very clever re-visioning of history and yet also contains a real sense of "heart" at the core. It doesn't forget what was truly evil about that regime and two people's struggle to get the truth out.
First, as others have said, it's a well-written series of books with a lot of suspense and several intriguing characters. Reminds me of Star Trek Voyager in that the fleet is trapped deep in space, essentially. The reading is strong and brilliant.
Most like another great series, Star Force.
I like all three major characters, but Christian Rummel is truly amazing in capturing both the manly brave captain voice of Captain Jack, and the voice of the two strong female protagonists. Arguably the best male performance of two women I've heard--and he lends such strong sensuality and uniqueness to each woman. Amazing!
The whole series rocks
Yes. It was very helpful for me to brush up on my French and they offer on online guide as well. But it is the two instructors that make this an awesome experience overall. They combine a sense of instruction, humor, friendship beautifully in their presentation. I like Eric Lynch's performance--he is funny, helpful, and encourages learning; but I find Virginies Maries totally captivating. Laugh if you will, but she has such a lovely sexy French accent and voice! Seriously: this is the type of French woman we men all fell in love with over the years, and it just makes the whole experience that much more fun, entertaining, and instructive. Check it out!
The reparte between the instructors .
As I said--they are superb, tres magnifique! I would love to meet Virginie in person and tell her how awesome she is.
It's worth it just to listen to these two instructors. haha!
Ringo's Ayn Rand-conservative take is pretty funny actually, and sort of interesting, though it does get annoying as well. Still, a good tale overall, especially the beginning with the colorful aliens, the syrup, and all of that. Great reading of this, btw. Should have had more military action--I think that's a big flaw. Ringo whips through the action way too fast, focusing more on way too much ranting and geological/physics/manufacturing detail. Everything you anted to know about harvesting asteroids. Thanks for the lecture on all that, John. LOL
