When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

For starters,it would be really great if the author had written this at an adult level. The characters were childish and the repetitive phrases drove me crazy. Words and phrases were used over and over (and over and over) like "holy crap!" "holy hell!" "I clambered into" "he smells like Christian and body wash." Then every once in awhile she'd throw in a word that you might have to look up to know it's meaning, like maybe someone told her to vary her words and so she threw in a few good ones here and there.

As for the speaker, she was fine with the Anastasia character but her voice used for male characters was SO annoying. Why can't they just employ a male actor to do that part?

Would you ever listen to anything by E L James again?

    No

What didn’t you like about Becca Battoe’s performance?

    Her voice for male characters

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Fifty Shades of Grey?

The childish emails back and forth ... and back and forth ... and back and forth
