I have stolen princesses back from sleeping barrow kings. I burned down the town of Trebon. I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life. I was expelled from the University at a younger age than most people are allowed in. I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during day. I have talked to Gods, loved women, and written songs that make the minstrels weep. My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me.

What made the experience of listening to The Name of the Wind the most enjoyable?

The way the author describes the main characters feelings about his passions. Like music

What did you like best about this story?

The amazing yet believable world created. I kept wanting to know more about its mysteries.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes if I had the time. I have actually listened to it twice. Very rare with any of my audible books.

    Any additional comments?

The best book I have ever read/listened to. Hands down my all time favourite Just wish the third was out already.

Vain and shallow, the biggest blot on his horizon is having to get out of bed in the morning to train with obsessive and boring old men.

This has to be the best narration I have ever heard, the storey is great the characters are so real but what makes this one of best is the narration. This is winner on all counts, value for credit, believable magic not overused, believable flawed characters, engaging storey and did I mention the best narration. And to top it off there are two more in the series as well as two side novels. Win win win

According to mythology mankind used to live in The Tranquiline Halls. Heaven. But then the Voidbringers assaulted and captured heaven, casting out God and men. Men took root on Roshar, the world of storms, but the Voidbringers followed. The Almighty gave men powerful suits of armor and mystical weapons, the Shardblades. Led by ten angelic Heralds and ten orders of knights known as Radiants, mankind finally won (or so the legends say).

I found this book fantastic value for a credit, I just hate waiting for the next ones to be written. This book does introduce numerous characters who I had difficulty remembering and did sometimes drag a little. However the storey evolves at a good pace, after the start, and the action and storey development is worth the wait. I admit I wasn't much a fan of the wheel of time but I found this much more palatable.

I found this one particularly fun near the start with all the developments. The main character was intriguing and really brought to life by the narrator. Then about half way through it started to get a bit hard to swallow. Still entertaining enough to continue but I wasn't hanging out to get the next in the serious immediately.

He also possesses raw magical talent and the ability to make objects in his vicinity light as a feather or as heavy as depleted uranium, all with a magical thought. It's no wonder the G-men turn to Jake when they need someoneto go after a suspected killer who has been knocking off banks in a magic-enhanced crime spree.

If you tried Monster Hunters International and found the action good but the storey a bit weak you might find this much more entertaining as well as more interesting characters.

I found this one pretty tuff to get through. Its defiantly different and dark and has good scenes but is let down for me by its tendency to drag in spots.
