"Terrific Keegan"
I found this a terrific review of war over the millenia. Many insights, frequent references to the validity of Clausewitz's views. I wish I'd had Keegan as a professor.
"A great Key West story"
I've lived in Key West a long time and know the veracity of this book. Reading Michael's book is like being here. If you want to step away from where you are, and step into the reality of Key West, you'll enjoy spending time with Mad Mick in my hometown and Havana. And I've been there too (long story).
"Being a gentleman is living a tradition"
This book is far more than a manners guide. It speaks deeply to the largely Western traditions of honor, valor, consideration for others, and yes, manners and the special care for women. These things are skipped over in schools today, to our diminishment. The world would be a better place if men strove more towards becoming gentlemen.
"Terrific listen"
I loved the classic stories of Ireland and the story of Roland and his search. Usually I listen to non-fiction. This book had enough of great legends, their application to the modern day, truth that had been burnished, and facts about Ireland that it was a very satisfying book to listen to. And I found the author the perfect reader.
