The human-eating Posleen have invaded Earth, decimating all but two North American territories. Heavily outnumbered, humans cluster close together, the possibilities of habitable space shrinking by the day. An epic battle from September 11-27, 2009, will decide the fate of humankind, and the apocalyptic decision to use nuclear weapons - heretofore banned - will alter the fate of alien and human forever.

Colin says: "Yea! the story continues and its even better"
    "Can it be better?"

In this whole series also......John Ringo is without a doubt, in my mind, one of the best science fiction writers currently plying the trade. I don't know if he grew up reading the masters (heinlien, clarke, asimov....) but I am hearing their echos in his writing. An absolute joy to listen to........... Science Fiction like it needs to be.......(again).

  • Spade & Archer: The Prequel to The Maltese Falcon

When Sam Spade gets drawn into the Maltese Falcon case, we know what to expect: straight talk, hard questions, no favors, and no way for anyone to get underneath the protective shell he wears like a second skin. We know that his late partner, Miles Archer, was a son of a bitch; that Spade is sleeping with Archer's wife, Iva; that his tomboyish secretary, Effie Perine, is the only innocent in his life. What we don't know is how Spade became who he is. Spade & Archer completes the picture.

If society collapsed, could you survive? When Morgan Carter's car breaks down 250 miles from his home, he figures his weekend plans are ruined. But things are about to get much, much worse: the country's power grid has collapsed. There is no electricity, no running water, no Internet, and no way to know when normalcy will be restored - if it ever will be.

Anyone who has been outside CONUS (CONtinental U.S.), in some of the more scary areas of the world, will know how accurate the description of the collapse probably is in this great story. The reviewer who thought the collapse was rather fast might be, in my opinion one of the more clueless victims described herein....
GREAT read (listen) narrator is perfectly in tune with the story line........

Fantastic characters, full of emotional deja vu.........

I'll admit I tend to focus on the longer fiction works, makes the cost per hour more palatable.

But this is a Great Story to boot, plus....Scott Brick as narrator makes this a smooth journey, worth each and every hour......
