    I am familiar with both the printed versions of the first two books in this series and the Showtime adaptation, so I am not a "Dexter" novice. I found the book adequate and entertaining overall, but the reader annoying. He seemed to be whining as the Dexter character (and most others), which detracted from the story line. I tried to ignore his 'tone', but 10 hours of that left a bad taste in my ear.
