Tess, an aspiring seamstress, thinks she's had an incredibly lucky break when she is hired by famous designer Lady Lucile Duff Gordon to be a personal maid on the Titanic's doomed voyage. Once on board, Tess catches the eye of two men, one a roughly-hewn but kind sailor and the other an enigmatic Chicago millionaire. But on the fourth night, disaster strikes. Amidst the chaos and desperate urging of two very different suitors, Tess is one of the last people allowed on a lifeboat. Tess’s sailor also manages to survive unharmed, witness to Lady Duff Gordon’s questionable actions during the tragedy.

History has all but forgotten.... In the spring of 1708, an invading Jacobite fleet of French and Scottish soldiers nearly succeeded in landing the exiled James Stewart in Scotland to reclaim his crown. Now, Carrie McClelland hopes to turn that story into her next best-selling novel. Settling herself in the shadow of Slains Castle, she creates a heroine named for one of her own ancestors and starts to write. But then she discovers her novel is more fact than fiction....

Where does The Winter Sea rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The connection from the present and the past was outstanding and the storyline had me constantly wanting for more. I absolutely adored this story. A little history, a little romance, and a little mystery too!

What a great story. The characters are engaging and you truly feel as though you become a part of their world. I loved it.

    Any additional comments?

The end was a little abrupt, like the author got to a point and got tired of writing.

Olivia Kiskey needs a change. She’s been working at the same Nodaway Falls, New York, waffle house since she was a teenager; not a lot of upward mobility there. She’s been in love with Tobias, the cook, for the last four years; he's never made a move. Intent on shaking things up, Olivia puts her house on the market, buys a one-way ticket to Europe, and announces her plans to her friends - but then she meets Davina Granville, a strange and mystical Southern woman....

Would you consider the audio edition of A Little Night Magic to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the actual book

What did you like best about this story?

The story line is entertaining and fast paced... and best of all it was the first "light read" I have found enjoyable in a long time. A great way to "get away" for a short while with out falling into a huge depressing storyline.
