"Not a good first read."
As the first Niven/Lerner book I've picked up, I have to say I was a bit lost. I could not get into it. With this particular series maybe it's important you start from the beginning. In my experience, serials are designed so you can pick up any one and though there's background info missing, the book still stands alone well. This one just seemed too alien and I had the impression I've missed too much of the story to fully understand the plot. Other reviewers seem to have been a fan of the continuing series and have a different view. But if you haven't read others I wouldn't recommend starting with this one.
"seriously emotional"
I'm not sure enjoyable is the best term for such a dark experience. It's an important book on a serious subject. It deeply affected me. I had a physical reaction to some of the horror described in this book. And yet its a book I would recommend to anyone who could stomach it.
"Good teen book"
I would recommend to my daughters in about 10 years or so. I chose this book because it was described as similar to "Hunger Games". However, while HG was written for a younger audience it had appeal to for adults as well. I would not recommend this book for adults, it's definitely a teen, or young adult book. It lacked maturity.
It was a decent story and was well read, but it was not my cup of tea.
"Bravo"
I regret to say I never read the print version
I loved the one liners. Very funny
I have listened to this book 5 times now. It's very entertaining when I'm in the mood for a laugh.
"I liked this book a LOT"
with the possible exception of the post script. It was a jaw dropper. Other than that I thought it was suspenseful and well written. a very enjoyable read.
"engaging"
Although it was clearly aimed at a teen audience, I found the story engaging enough to finish it.
