I loved the character development. It was interesting to go from one era to the other.
Vivian--she had a life with tragedy and joy.
I enjoyed her voice.
I think that this is a book written by a woman for women. Maybe I am too old to appreciate it. The main character does not ring true to me. She is a beautiful, rich police lieutenant married to a handsome, wealthy man and all she does is complain. Ugh! Not believable.
Write her main character more realistically. I can't really see much futuristic about this novel written about the future--they call watches wrist units and computers units--other than that, which just seems annoying, I don't know what is so futuristic.
She wasn't my favorite reader, although she did many of the characters very well.
I liked the scenes with Dallas and her husband--if only she didn't always seem so put out.
The story was interesting, but all of the complaining by Eve Dallas got in the way.
I really enjoyed this book. This story was gripping. I listen while I walk and I ended up walking a long way just to listen to this story!
I really enjoy James Lee Burke. I have read all of the Hackberry Holland books and several other Burke novels.
This is the first one that I have listened to..
Yes! It was hard to stop listening.
A really great listen/read
