narrator distracts classic larson

interesting to see from the aliens point of view. aliens jumping out of toilets, that's why I've always been a little nervous sitting on a toilet in the dark.

character voices are good, but rest of narration is distracting, kind of sounds like that guy from original star trek- George Takei.

no, character development was not strong enough to identify with, felt kind of choppy, I got this because I enjoyed Larson's star force series so much. It feels like an earlier work, with more of a space opera tone.

enjoyed it well enough to get the next book in the series, not sure if I will stick with the series after that though, hoping it gets better.

This book was one of those rare finds that really draw you in. I loved the moving story line. there was only one spot that stalled briefly, but it really fleshed out the characters and turned them into real people. The narration was perfection, the voice matched the character quite well and drew you into the story. I was very impressed with this book and will be looking for more by this author.

great and long awaited end to a series. Gerard Doyle is the perfect narrator for this series and style of writing. I cannot put my finger on what has changed, probably just a more mature author, but it just didn't drum up the same excitement in me. It is still well written, and I still enjoyed it. It may have been better if it was edited down a bit more. Thank you Mr. Paolini for a great ride. I look forward to reading your next project.

at first i wondered if it had been written in the 70's, it had that kind of good old sci-fi feel. I was surprised to see how recent it had been written. It was a fun and entertaining story and well read. Loved the classic gum shoe style.

please don't compare this to dresden, felt like some wanna-be tough guy tried to write another urban fantasy. I feel kind of slimy for listening to it.

verrry sloww start, like the first half of the book at least, but ends well and while the first part was painfull to get through, the information gained there, and the feel you get for the characters makes the journey worth it. it's like struggling up a mountain on a shadowed trail and bursting onto a sunlit view of the valley below. the endorfins are coarsing through your veins, you feel great, and it's all down hill ahead.

a wonderful and unique ending to the series. tied everything up nicely with a good twist. nice narration as well.

I found this book enjoyable and entertaining. My only quible is that it's too short. I also enjoyed the narrator. He does a wonderfull job with the different character voices. I would definitly recommend as bigger things finally start to happen, and you begin to get a feel as to where the series is going.

previous reviews left me hesitant to buy, but it was good. I thought the ending was handled quite well, even though it did leave room for a fourth book. the rants and raves sounded a little like ayn rand, but instead of focusing on capitalism, it focused on government control and loss of freedom. It is certainly extremist in it's view, but it does make you think. It is along the lines of george orwel's "big brother", but with an air of hope for the future, more excitement, and less depressing. I wonder if Big Brother is still required reading in the schools?

boooorrrrriiinnggg, the author and reader where trying to put me to sleep. I plot was too trasparent and the reader's voice to monotonous. the few character voices she did were laughable, especially her (deep) male voice, which if the commander really did talk like, would have had nobody fooled- you'd understand if you read it. anyhow, it was on sale for 4$ so I guess I'll stop complaining
