"For all dog lovers"
I loved this book. If I wasn't laughing, then I was crying. This is a book written with a unique perspective of humanity. Refreshing.
"More please"
I am always a sucker for a good dog story and was pleasantly surprised when I got a great plot as well. I really hope Mr. Crais has more Scott and Maggie to bring to us in future.
"A Good Read"
I did not expect much from this book but was pleasantly surprised. It was not brilliant writing and cannot be taken too seriously but it entertained me.
"They're Back!"
I really enjoyed this instalment of The Women's Murder Club. The storyline and character's were interesting. This is not brilliant writing but it is a nice light read and I look forward to te next one.
"An Unexpected Surprise"
I purchased this book as a filler until the book I was waiting for was released. However, to my surprise I was hooked from the first chapter. It may seem juvenile to some adults but as a parent who has not forgotten what it is like to be a teenager, it touched me. A pleasant surprise and a good read.
"That's it?"
I was so disappointed. I have been waiting for this book for 31 years and that was it? I expected so much more after all the built up expectations; it was repetitive and went nowhere. There were so many places this last book could have gone and the author did not take advantage. It is almost like she just wanted to get it done. Such a shame, it had great potential.
"Jack Captured my Heart"
From the first sentence, this book pulled me into the Jack’s world. The premise is brilliant and the execution (especially in audio) was superb. I fell in love with this little boy. I cheered him on when he was being a "superhero" and cried with him when he was scared. He reminded me of the resilience, strength, adaptability and unconditional love we were capable of as children and seem to lose in adulthood.
I have listened to hundreds of audio books and place this one is in my top five for narrative. The characters in the story were vivid and the narrative made it feel real when you listened.
It has been awhile since I have come across a book that left me feeling like I had just finished a good piece of writing but this book did it for me. I would highly recommend.
"Confused"
I really wanted to love this book. In my opinion, Stephen King’s “The Stand” was his best book and this book had promise of being a respectable imitation. I enjoyed the amount of time invested in developing the plot and although somewhat predictable, I still enjoyed the character development.
However, when I finished the book I was stunned; I thought I had lost the final part to the story or something went wrong with the download as it just ended. I understand leaving a few things open to allow room for a sequel but the author left huge gaping holes in the story. It left me with the impression that the author just got tired of the story and gave up.
I must assume that the author intends to write a sequel to this book but I think the first instalment could have been tied off more eloquently as many readers like me may not be willing to invest that much time in a second instalment if it means another poor ending.
"Even better than the first"
The second instalment is even better than the first. However, you would not want to read this one without having read the first; you would never be able to grasp the depth of the storyline. Can't wait for the third!
"A pleasant surprise"
When I bought this book, I expected a light “young adult” read that I might be able to recommend to my teenage daughter. I was pleasantly surprised when I became entrenched in a story that was quite thought provoking. The narration was beautifully done and enhanced the story even more. Overall a great read and I am looking forward to the next.
