Percy Jackson isn't expecting freshman orientation to be any fun. But when a mysterious mortal acquaintance appears on campus, followed by demon cheerleaders, things quickly move from bad to worse.

Rick Riordan is like JK Rowling and Sherrilyn Kenyon (two of my favorite authors) because he has created an unique world where children of mythology gods coexist between both world. Trying to be like any other normal kid, Percy Jackson finds himself hoping from one adventure into another. And like faithful followers, we are pulled along freely as we traverse the world Rick Riordan has created. These books that create the Olympian series are fun to listening to and Jesse Bernstein does an absolutely fantastic job narrating the stories.

In Coraline's family's new flat are twenty-one windows and fourteen doors. Thirteen of the doors open and close. The fourteenth is locked, and on the other side is only a brick wall, until the day Coraline unlocks the door to find a passage to another flat in another house just like her own.

Although I don't have any children, I found Neil Gaiman's story delightful to listen to. This wasn't the first Neil Gaiman book I listen to and I can say that this author has found a unique click into the imagination of children. What's more is that the more I listened to Coraline, the creepier I found the story. This is not a watered-down version of a tale for children. No, this is a creepy tale meant for children and I suspect that some children, especially the very young, would be scaried to listen to it.

Acheron: Dark-Hunter, Book 11 was my first introduction into the strange and captivating world of Dark-Hunters and the literary work of Sherrilyn Kenyon. What a pleasure and a find it was. I have listened to this book at least three times and have since acquired an exstive collection of both audio and printed books by Sherrilyn Kenyon. She has clearly captured the mythos of Roman, Greek and Celtic mythology. I love the way she blends the old with mythology with our modern day. Not only is this book spell-binding but her other dark-hunters book are as well. Much like another of my favorite authors, JK Rowling, Sherrilyn Kenyon has captured a world where I would love to live. And I wouldn't mind having any dark hunter share my bed too.

The weather-beaten sign on the gate of the Magic Forest says closed for the season. But when the boys ride up to the gate on their bikes, Arthur tells his new friend, Logan, that the old amusement park hasn’t been open for years. Kudzu vines have grown over everything, making the park look sinister even in broad daylight, so Logan is reluctant to go inside, but Arthur urges him on. He’s sure they’ll discover important clues to the mystery they’re trying to solve: Who killed Myrtle Donaldson? And what happened to the money she handled as head bookkeeper at the Magic Forest?

This story reminds me of Stand by Me. A little. This is an entertaining story of a murder mystery. But it's more than that. It's about two boys, an unlikey pair, who find they need each other and end up becoming unseperatable friends.
