The author just seems to know what I want from a romance book. I was interested IMMEDIATELY and loved every minute afterwards. Hoyt is a great romance author. Narrator is exceptional also..Moira puts me in the story.
The Raven Prince same author (writing style is perfect for my taste) and same wonderful narrator.
Just as good as the last....Moira is quickly becoming my favorite narrator.
It made me tingle!
This book is one of my favorites. I finished it in a day and a night. It is extremely hot and steamy. Super sexy!
Isabel was great. But I loved that we got to know Joseph TinBox better.
She brings the book alive. It's a movie in my mind thanks to Ashford. She is brilliant!
Yes yes yes! I was so intrigued with every aspect of the story...not just the romance...it was a great thrilling plot.
Winter is awesome. I was so happy we got to see him come out of his shell. It was such a twist for the guy to be the innocent and the woman is taking control. I loved the dialogue and chemistry between Winter and Isabel. I was not convinced of all the details of the ending...but loved it all anyway. A great HEA.
So far at the top!!! All of Elizabeth Hoyt's books are very high on my best books of all time and this one is super high on that list!
Great! Ashford does a wonderful job. If I had one complaint it is that she basically switched Silence's and Temperance's voices in this book, but that isn['t a very large part of the book and I am just being nit-pickey!
The whole thing, BUT when Mary was under the bed with Lad...I burst into tears!!! (but can't give anything away here!) But so many moments moved me!
This is so much more than a romance novel! This is a real dramatic story with romance at the center. Twists and turns .... never wanting to hit pause...I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!
I cannot say enough about this book. Although I LOVED IT, it was not quite as good as the first or third books in the series, but still SO WONDERFUL!!! I highly recommend this book to historical romance lovers and those yearning for that heart melting HEA. It is also super sexy and Elizabeth Hoyt knows how to write a sensual and delicious sex scene! I wish there were never an end to Maiden Lane...I will listen to this book and the entire series again and again!!!
Did not read the print version...but the audio version is OUTSTANDING!!!!
Obviously the rest of the Maiden Lane series, BUT also The Raven Prince and The Serpent Prince.
I enjoyed the scene when Lord Caire was in Temperance's room at the Foundling Home....but then again I enjoyed ALL the love scenes ;-)
YES YES YES.....I really LOVED this book and got no sleep! I was captured from the start and I swear I couldn't control my emotions ..... this book is FANTASTIC!!!
I wasn't expecting to be caught up in anything other than a fluff romance....MAN WAS I WRONG!!!! This is NOT FLUFF!!! Wicked Intentions is NOT for the faint of heart. It is explicit but it makes this story more real in my point of view. This book is just the beginning of a series that captivates & amazes. It is more than a romance, it is a drama and mystery as well.
I would read this book again and again and again. It is that good!!!
YES! This story was full of angst, secrets, villains, love and rogues. I wasn't sure I was going to like it after some of the reviews, but I was caught up from the beginning and hardly could press pause!
Memorable.....when Chelynne is saved from harm by John....the second time. The night they spent together and with their conversation and other....eye opening moment for her.
I loved Carr's By Right Of Arms....liked The Bellrose Bargain pretty good.....did NOT like The Braeswood Tapestry...so I didn't know what to expect with Chelynne. WELL WORTH THE CREDIT or MONEY. GREAT CHARACTERS!!! GREAT STORY!!!
The witty character interactions between Jamie and Alec. Julie Garwood is the absolute MASTER of character conversations. Most of this book IS the back and forth between Jamie and Alec and I was CONSTANTLY making me burst out with a laugh. This book is also much more sensual & sexy than some of Garwood's other books I have read.....she does a great job of writing the scenes and making them very sexy & steamy without getting too raunchy.
I will listen to the book again and again!!!
I loved the scene in the courtyard where Jamie goes after someone (no spoilers) with a club. Overall though I enjoyed the trip from England back to Scotland. The beginning of Jamie and Alec's relationship was great.
She does a great job of making this story come alive. I felt like I was there. She plays out the scenes so perfectly! Her male voices are good...but not the very best..so I really wish I could really give the performance 4.5 stars.
Laughed constantly. Cried a few times. Smiled through it all!
The Bride is so character driven - Jamie and Alec are great characters. There wasn't a ton of other drama going on...there was very little to detract from the building of Jamie and Alec's relationship. They are the MAIN focus of the book and that is what I loved....that being said that does mean there is not really another big story going on so I have to give the 4 stars.
Yes. We'll written, different plot twist, same sexy highlanders!
Banks's Seduction of a Highland Lass.. Very similar but this book offers a bit of a twist.
She's not as big a character in this book but is in the first... But I love how she plays Rory. Potter is the very best there is! She makes me lose myself in every book she narrates. She is the PERFECT ACCENT narrator. They ALL sound real and so believable. Men and women and children alike... She is THE BEST!
Yes yes yes! Sleep is overrated. This book was impossible to pause!
While the Montgomery and Armstrong Series is WONDERFUL....it is not quite as good as Banks's McCabe Series. The McCabe Series is my all time favorite....Montgomery and Armstrong series is a close second! Banks is BRILLIANT! I wish she wrote only highland romances because she does them so perfectly.
This books title doesn't make any sense once the book is listened to.....but that's just a petty thought.
Yes. This book has a TWIST. All of the books in the Montgomery and Armstrong series seem to have the same element of a character with a "difference" (don't want to give it away because I was pleasantly shocked!). Eveline is a terrifically thought out and written character. Her interactions with all the other characters make this a fun and impossible to pause listen.
Banks's In Bed With A Highlander....... Strong Laird not expecting to fall in love with the bride he is "forced" to marry. That's an overwhelming theme in most Highland Romance books, but Banks does such a good job with adding and twisting the "same ol' same ol'" until it is new.
It also has it's steamy scenes...but not quite as hot and steamy as In Bed with a Highlander.
Still the very best there is! She makes me lose myself in every book she narrates. She is the PERFECT ACCENT narrator. They ALL sound real and so believable. Men and women and children alike... She is THE BEST!
There were a few moments that I smiled and laughed and cried....but my favorite is when Rory and Eveline are moving Evelines things down the hall.....wonderful scene.
One thing I will say...and the only real negative comment is that this book is NOT named very well. I think the name could have been more thought out and have more meaning to the direction of the story....but that's a petty complaint I know!
Someone looking for LESS romance might enjoy this book because although there was some....it was too little too late and seriously lacking!
The lack of romance. Romance was implied somewhere in the background but I just couldn't get into it. It wasn't developed well at all. It was almost like readers were just told ....okay now there is romance going on....now back to the boring other parts.
The narrator read like an elderly lady. Her female voices were tolerable, but the men sounded like OLD FAT NOBLES...not young handsome strapping men. Maybe that was my biggest problem - I couldn't get past the picture the narration painted in my mind!
I might have forced a total re write! The scenes at court seemed a waste of time...the king didn't even truly need to be in the book other than mentioning him.
Not worth a credit...Carr has some great books out there...By Right of Arms is wonderful...read her other stuff...pass on Braeswood. I listened in 2x speed for most of the book.
Blackmoore was a unique story. I haven't read any books like it before.
When Henry was talking about how Kate's "heart" loved him and wanted to curl up next to him. It was so cute and adorable. I don't want to give away any details though.
I loved this book. Great narrator! The opening of the book says its a "Proper Romance".... And it was! There is no sex...no inappropriate activity.....it is proper and yet it totally hooked me in and I loved the progression of the love story. The story was unique and entrapped me.
Maybe it was slightly slow moving compared to most books I enjoy, but it was a delightful and surprising change of pace and loved every minute.
My only complaint would be I wanted more at the end. I mean I would have like to have a good long epilogue, but then that's me being selfish....maybe then it wouldn't have been so proper... ;-)
