Historian and New York Times best-selling author Alison Weir is acclaimed for her absorbing works about the infamous House of York and House of Tudor lines. In A Dangerous Inheritance, Weir uses her wealth of knowledge to craft a compelling novel about two women, living 70 years apart, who are linked through the mysterious disappearance of King Richard III's nephews, Edward V and Richard of Shrewsbury - also known as the Princes in the Tower.

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator did an ok job with women's voices, but when it came to men's voices she sounded drunk, drugged, or constipated.

    Any additional comments?

Alison Weir is great at non-fiction and should really stick to that genre.

The British accent, although sometimes her Australian accent sneaks through.

Here is the first full-length biography of a much maligned but astonishingly colourful Queen of England. In Newgate Street, in the city of London, stand the meagre ruins of Christ Church. On the same site once stood a royal mausoleum set to rival Westminster Abbey in the 14th century. Among the many crowned heads buried there was Isabella of France, Edward II's queen - one of the most notorious femme fatales in history. But how did she acquire her evil reputation? And is it justified?

Would you listen to Isabella again? Why?

Yes. I would listen again because there was way too much information to absorb in one hearing. Lisette Lecat did an excellent job as narrator and brought the book to life.

What did you like best about this story?

    The factual history.

    Any additional comments?

Alison Weir is really good at the detective work needed for this kind of book. She gives you detailed facts and then draws conclusions to come up with her take on history's mysteries. I learn a lot from her books.

A Breath of Snow and Ashes continues the saga of 18th-century Scotsman Jamie Fraser and his 20th-century, time-traveling wife, Claire. The year is 1772, and the rift between Britain and its American colonies has put a frightening word into the minds of all concerned: revolution. In the backwoods of North Carolina, violence has already reared its ugly head, as cabins have been burned to the ground. To preserve the colony for King George III, the governor pleads with Jamie to bring the people together and restore peace. But Jamie has the burden of knowing that war cannot be avoided.

    B.J. says: "Another terrific listen."

If you could sum up A Breath of Snow and Ashes in three words, what would they be?

    Slightly far fetched

Would you be willing to try another book from Diana Gabaldon? Why or why not?

    Yes. I'm reading the series.

What does Davina Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her excellent skill at making each character sound different.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    No. Much too long.

    Any additional comments?

This whole Outlander series if far fetched, but some of the story lines in this particular book seem more so than in the previous books. However, it's still a good read and I'll continue with the next book when I'm finished with this one.
