About 50% is great and fun to listen to, about 50% is full of drunk stories and too much of a dependence on 4-letter explicatives to describe things. My biggest gripe is that he is constantly telling you to buy his book throughout the recording, and leaving things out. Is this what I deserve for shelling out 15-20 dollars on this thing, criticized for not buying your book instead? Overall though, it is worth it for the high points.

The narrator is absolutely fantastic. I gave it 4 stars overall, because the book is so long-winded and takes so many tangents that it is difficult to keep track of what is being discussed, it does not always hold your attention. I have tried reading it twice, without success, so listening to it was definitely the best way. I recommend this book, there are a lot of laugh out loud moments, a lot of "wow that was deep and introspective" moments, and the main character Tom Jones is a very admirable hero overall. Check it out!

Fascinating, I love hearing about the Mongols and how they overcame the world! It is like Darwin said, it is not the strongest that survives but that most adaptable to change. The Mongols were such a threat on the battlefield because they were the most mobile and adaptable to change.

Long, drawn out, very little happens in the book that is of any interest, this book is similar to a pop song that you hear on the radio that a lot of people love but really isn't anything interesting.

This book is about 80% intense unavoidable suffering/humiliation of the protagonist and 20% of the protagonist overcoming his hardships. It did keep me entertained on a 14 hour drive and it is thought provoking as far as "why do some human beings derive pleasure in the helpless torture of others".
The most frustrating part of this book for me was that it is just some narrator telling about what is happening, very little of the book is composed of the protagonist's actual words about what happened/what was happening. I would have preferred to hear how he dealt with everything in his own words, like in the book "Papillon", because that way, you also learn about how people overcome adversity rather than just never ending narrative about them being abused mentally and physically.
