Pure Heart, Enlightened Mind: The Life and Letters of an Irish Zen Saint.

It is profoundly rare that I take the time to write or speak on any book....but know deeply, this book is special. As a Catholic, who is also experienced in Zen Buddhism, this book is a rare gift to both religions. Pure Heart, Enlightened Mind is the story of Maura O'Halloran a profoundly intelligent young women who was raised Catholic who becomes a saint within the Zen Buddhist tradition. This is the story of her adventure and of her enlightenment.

While the concepts may be difficult for non-Buddhists to understand, please do not let this deter you. Maura story is enchanting and deeply insightful into true spirituality ...the truth of the beauty of this life....that is so often so difficult to see.

Mare Winningham's wonderful voice and Irish accent will make you feel as if ...Maura is in the room reading the book to you.

Everything is a field of practice - even our dreams. In this liminal, freewheeling talk, Ryushin Sensei explores the nature of dreams, and their usefulness as a source of the "uncanny realm," or, as he puts it, "the un-canned mind," in which our egos become permeable and our minds unhindered by the five senses. What is a dream? What is waking up from a dream? What is it to be awake? The very reality you're in right now is a dream. Practice offers you an opportunity to be lucid within the dream.

What did you love best about Life Is But a Dream?

Konrad Ryushin Marchaj possesses a uniquely developed “observer in mind “which allows him to speak with eloquence, heart and clarity on the very subtle and complex paradigms of Zen. Konrad speaks from the “intuitive mind” prospective… far better than any of the other Zen minds that I’ve encountered in my lifetime. If Konrad has the “awareness” to also find the pure logic “solutions” to Koans …his students will have the incredibly rare opportunity to study under an fully “integrated” teacher.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Life Is But a Dream?

Konrad's sense of humor and honesty of "self" embedded within his laughter

What does the narrator bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Konrad is the narrator ..this brings authenticity to the dialog

  • Biocentrism: How Life and Consciousness are the Keys to the True Nature of the Universe

The whole of Western natural philosophy is undergoing a sea change, forced upon us by the experimental findings of quantum theory. At the same time, these findings have increased our doubt and uncertainty about traditional physical explanations of the universe's genesis and structure. Biocentrism completes this shift in worldview, turning the planet upside down again with the revolutionary view that life creates the universe instead of the other way around.

This is an extraordinary book for those individuals with the intellectual skills required to analyze Dr. Lanza???s and Dr. Berman's theories, in a logical and open minded fashion. I would strongly urge you to first read the book Quantum Enigma by the physicists, Bruce Rosenblum Phd and Fred Kuttner Phd, PRIOR to reading Biocentrism, as it will give you a grounded NO-nonsense description of the ???quantum strangeness??? in physics that Dr. Lanza and Dr. Berman are discribing their book. I especially want to complement Dr. Lanza for his courage in sharing the "emotionally difficult" stories from his personal life. Both Dr. Lanza and Dr. Berman are highly respected scientists which lends great credabilty to their theories expounded in Biocentrism.

It has been passed down through the ages, highly coveted, hidden, lost, stolen, and bought for vast sums of money. Fragments of this Great Secret have been found in the oral traditions, in literature, in religions and philosophies throughout the centuries. In this audiobook you will discover the Secret, and you will learn how to have, do, or be anything you want.

    Overall

The Secret (Unabridged) was an amazingly poor book. The author's main premise is. . . if you can think it then it will come. I'm very open to new ideas in consciousness and models of reality but this book reflects the ultimate in deluded thinking. If I had looked at this book in the bookstore I would most likely have explored it more thoroughly and not have purchase it. Avoid my mistake and save your money
