In 2010 world-renowned innovation expert Clayton M. Christensen gave a powerful speech to the Harvard Business School's graduating class. Drawing upon his business research, he offered a series of guidelines for finding meaning and happiness in life. He used examples from his own experiences to explain how high achievers can all too often fall into traps that lead to unhappiness. Full of inspiration and wisdom, this book will help students, midcareer professionals, and parents alike forge their own paths to fulfillment.

On The Power of Vulnerability, Dr. Brown offers an invitation and a promise - that when we dare to drop the armor that protects us from feeling vulnerable, we open ourselves to the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.

Sadie says: "The audio makes all the difference."
"Who knew the way to get ahead in life is to be vulnerable!"

Getting ahead by being happy and fulfilled. Accepting that blamers are not to be responded to has been liberating. Playing without the need to win is more fun. Continuing to work on things when there is not a quick win has paid off.
    Highly recommended!

Combining cutting-edge research with practical findings, Focus delves into the science of attention in all its varieties, presenting a long overdue discussion of this little-noticed and under-rated mental asset. In an era of unstoppable distractions, Goleman persuasively argues that now more than ever we must learn to sharpen focus if we are to survive in a complex world.

Danny M. says: "Don't let the authors narrate their own books!"
"Great premise until Goleman looses focus and rants on environmental issues..."

A great deal of research and reporting on how or mind works.
Flawed by sidebars of rants on environmental issues that at best have extremely tenuous connection to the topic of mental processes and worst are distracting and tedious. At times the author seems to be channeling Al Gore.
I purchased this to learn about mental and emotional processes and how to improve them.

The New York Times best-selling author heralds the future of business in Free. In his revolutionary best seller, The Long Tail, Chris Anderson demonstrated how the online marketplace creates niche markets, allowing products and consumers to connect in a way that has never been possible before. Now, in Free, he makes the compelling case that, in many instances, businesses can profit more from giving things away than they can by charging for them.

Whatever your role or position, developing a working checklist for your activities will make a difference and the insight given in this book about what makes a checklist useful, not too pedantic and not too general, is remarkable. Recommended.
