Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Imajica is an epic beyond compare: vast in conception, obsessively detailed in execution, and apocalyptic in its resolution. At its heart lies the sensualist and master art forger Gentle, whose life unravels when he encounters Judith Odell, whose power to influence the destinies of men is vaster than she knows, and Pie "oh" pah, an alien assassin who comes from a hidden dimension.

I read this book when I was twelve ( nobody called cps) it is a very good example of a complex story told as if the things left out are common knowledge it's so many things but ,
I loved the world(s) and the people ?
If a writer can make goat piss sound even a little appetizing then he's telling a good story.
Clive Barker has said it is his favorite of all his books and it's easy to see that in the meat of the book.
It's no scooby doo paint by numbers
I love it and couldn't recommend it more

Astronomer Marty Chittenden is the first to recognize the approaching doom - a discovery that makes him a marked man. Green Beret Jack Forrest knows the catastrophe is inevitable and begins stockpiling an abandoned missile silo with supplies while gathering together a small community of men, women, and children he prays can survive the apocalypse.

Lots of apocalypse novels follow the formula this one does it well
I have to say that the narrative is extremely rape happy
I get that people would eat people but ,this book puts sex On an equal footing with survival and in doing so it lost me, the moriarty character was glaringly lifted from the postman , but other than that this book is exactly what the title suggests good clean fun

Also I loved the little digs in these books that basically say Homer wasn't the end all be all

Brandon Sanderson is young and brilliant in my opinion
I've consumed everything he's put out , he makes puzzling decisions about what to do I almost feel cheated each time he puts out a book that isn't part of the stormlight archive , which is so fresh and original and just well brilliant.
First I dealt with him typing Jordan's rehash and now this super hero , formula series ,
I just can't understand why authors today can't ride the thoroughbred in the stable
Steel heart was pretty good but I felt myself fading out on this one and not needing or wanting to go back to get it all.
    It wasn't a waste but I didn't say wow

Harlan Ellison has won more awards for imaginative literature than any other living author, but only aficionados of Ellison’s singular work have been aware of another of his passions…he is a great oral interpreter of his stories. His recordings have been difficult to obtain…by his choice. In 1999, for the first time, he was lured into the studio to record this stunning retrospective.

If the past is prologue, then George R. R. Martin's masterwork - the most inventive and entertaining fantasy saga of our time - warrants one hell of an introduction. At long last, it has arrived with The World of Ice & Fire. This volume is a comprehensive history of the Seven Kingdoms, providing vividly constructed accounts of the epic battles, bitter rivalries, and daring rebellions that lead to the events of A Song of Ice and Fire and HBO's Game of Thrones.

If you criticize the writing you are an a $$
This book gives exactly what I want more westeros more Roy dotrice , if you don't get goosebumps when young bariston Selmy rescues Aries
And you don't chuckle when Roy nails the voice of pycell , then move on to the next twilight
You have to respect martins grasp of politics if nothing else.
This is my favorite of the series so far because it fleshes out all the other books
In my opinion they should start referring to Tolkien as the 20th century Martin
I loved the LOTR but Got is full of real people.

From the towering heights of Olympos Mons on Mars, the mighty Zeus and his immortal family of gods, goddesses, and demigods look down upon a momentous battle, observing - and often influencing - the legendary exploits of Paris, Achilles, Hector, Odysseus, and the clashing armies of Greece and Troy. Thomas Hockenberry, former 21st-century professor and Iliad scholar, watches as well. It is Hockenberry's duty to observe and report on the Trojan War's progress to the so-called deities who saw fit to return him from the dead.
