Why we think it’s a great listen: If you’ve ever loved a dog - or even patted a dog - this book, told from the perspective of man’s best friend, will tug at your heartstrings...and won’t let go until long after Welch performs the last word. Enzo knows he is different from other dogs: a philosopher with a nearly human soul (and an obsession with opposable thumbs), he has educated himself by watching television extensively and by listening very closely to the words of his master.

Lora says: "Enzo (because he's so wize) for president."
    "FUN story!"
    Overall

Different kind of book, from the dog's perspective. Very interesting and sentimental, and makes you see things from a different perspective. Would recommend it, especially to dog-lovers!

A smashing, award-winning debut novel that introduces Charley Davidson: part-time private investigator and full-time Grim Reaper. Charley sees dead people. That’s right, she sees dead people. And it’s her job to convince them to “go into the light”. But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e. murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she’s been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all.

    "Okay, but not Stephanie"
    Overall

Many were saying this is as good as Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum. Well, it IS the same reader, and it does have a quirky woman as the main character, but Stephanie is MUCH funnier and has better adventures. I enjoyed this book alright, but sometimes it was hard to follow with the different dead characters, and there is NO Lula, of course. Definitely not as fun as the Plum series, and I think this will be my only book. Falls short.

Thirty-eight year old Cassandra is lost, alone, and grieving. Her much loved grandmother, Nell, has just died and Cassandra, her life already shaken by a tragic accident 10 years ago, feels like she has lost everything known and dear to her.

This book was absolutely wonderful! It IS long, but you can't wait to see where next event will take you and what new secret will be revealed. I loved going through each woman's life events from the past as the story unfolded. Was sorry when it was done, and am looking forward to listening to Kate Morton's other book.

In a crowded courtroom in Mississippi, a jury returns a shocking verdict against a chemical company accused of dumping toxic waste into a small town's water supply, causing the worst "cancer cluster" in history. The company appeals to the Mississippi Supreme Court, whose nine justices will one day either approve the verdict or reverse it.

I have listened to every one of Grisham's books and couldn't put them down, so I was very excited he had finally written another after an extended break. Well, if ever a book needed to be abridged, it was THIS one! It just goes on and on with boring political details, and I had to force myself just to keep on listening. Kept hoping it would have some kind of intriguing story, like all his others, but no such luck! My advice, if you must listen, wait for the abridgement!

Lauren Stillwell isn't your average damsel in distress. When the NYPD cop discovers her husband leaving a hotel with another woman, she decides to beat him at his own game. But her revenge goes dangerously awry, and she finds her world spiraling into a hell that becomes more terrifying by the hour.

I read a few of the so-so reviews and was very surprised. This book is full of one twist after another that keeps you wanting to listen every opportunity you can! I thought it was a great listen, very entertaining. Something to listen to for FUN! Highly recommend it.

  • Water for Elephants

Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

    Overall

I chose this book off the Audible's Best of 2006 list, and I wasn't disappointed. It has everything. Full of memorable charaters on all levels, romance, adverture, sad and happy. I especially liked the readers, one portraying the 90-yr-old (93?) and one portraying the younger Jacob. The story is different and excellent and kept my attention the whole time. This is definitely one of my new favorites, and I tell everyone I know!
