Leader of the most powerful army in the heavens, Zacharel has been deemed nearly too dangerous, too ruthless - and if he isn't careful, he'll lose his wings. But this warrior with a heart of ice will not be deterred from his missions at any cost…until a vulnerable human tempts him with a carnal pleasure he's never known before. Accused of a crime she did not commit, Annabelle Miller has spent four years in an institution for the criminally insane. Demons track her every move, and their king will stop at nothing to have her. Story

I have listened to almost all of Gena Showalter's books and really like the quirks and sense of fun some of them have. This story has some of those same qualities with cameos by the Lords of the Underworld yum.. I found the pacing of the narration to be s l o w like the reader was bored or needed a cup of coffee maybe a double shot of espresso. I liked the plot and the characters just wish it really had been Max Bellmore. This was not a great pairing. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose I call this one a draw. If you need a book to listen to this one isn't bad, just don't expect Phil Gigante or Robert Petkoff.

When Sylvester, the Duke of Salford, first meets Phoebe Marlow, he finds her dull and insipid. She thinks he is insufferably arrogant. But when a series of unforeseen events leads them to be stranded together in a lonely country inn, they are both forced to reassess their hastily formed opinions, and they begin to discover a new-found liking and respect for each other. But what Sylvester doesn’t know is that Phoebe is about to publish a novel - a novel in which all London will recognize him as the villainous ‘Count Ugolino’

I am so squee happy that I found this book. It is one of my favorites by the grand dame Georgetter Heyer. Hello lock meet key. That is the fit of this narrator to this story. I highly recommend you buy this wonderful book. I read it and loved it and had the abridged version and sighed because I wanted the full "fotherby". Now I have it. Great story, great narration, great characters what more do you need? ( I know Arabella then I will probably embarrass myself.) Love this book. Thank you to the publisher Naxos books the updated version of this classic it was a long time coming. If the world has multiple versions of Pride and Prejudice then it is high time for Heyer.

Kresley Cole really hits her stride when she writes the two stories about the Woede. Robert Petkoff is genius with the British and Australian accents. He narrated Josh Bazell's book and you cannot imagine the range until you hear the difference. This story has such great chemistry between the two protagonists. It just makes me want more. Even though I own the books in print I had to get the audio and wow I cannot believe the price. Amazes me that books I hate cost twice as much. Well done whoever decides this.

"Of all of my novels, After the Night remains one of my personal favorites – and Faith Devlin and Gray Rouillard are two of my favorite characters. Faith is strong, proud, and fearless, and Gray – well, he’s just downright sexy. Faith’s search for the truth about the devastating scandal surrounding her mother and Gray’s father blazes with intrigue. Add some sultry Southern hear, and you’ve got a real scorcher of a listen." It is the southern setting or the characters or the plot or all of the above but I listen to this book whenever I want to relax. It is one of my favorites. Some parts are a bit earthy but I think it adds to the flavor. The characters are so complex and sympathetic. It is like Sandra Brown's Envy or Ain't She Sweet by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. A good mix of pleasure and pain. I read all kinds of books but this book hits me where I live.

Winner of a RITA, a National Readers’ Choice Award, the HOLT Medallion, and the Golden Quill, New York Times best-selling author Tracy Anne Warren is among the most acclaimed and popular Regency romance storytellers. In The Husband Trap, the reserved Lady Violet Brantford agrees to swap identities with her vivacious sister. Before she knows it, she’s married to the Duke of Raeburn, who finds himself pleasantly surprised with his charming new wife.

The narration was very slow. The story pace was slow and the characters were not my favorite. It was not an enjoyable book for me. I increased the playback speed and doggedly finished this listen. I will not continue this trilogy. The idea was excellent but I think the narrator might've ruined it for me. Next.

Emily Portsman has a secret, and three years ago she decided the best way to keep it would be to work at the Tantalus Club, a notorious gaming establishment for gentlemen. It's not the sort of work a beautiful, well-bred governess would ever consider - unless she's hiding from her past and a man who wants to destroy her present.... Nate Stokes, Earl of Westfall, is a supremely accomplished former spy more at home on London's seedy streets than in any glittery ballroom. His peers know him only as a bookish fellow who can find anything - or anyone....

I have enjoyed all the books in this series except for the second one it was good but I did not like the conflict. This book had such a great heroine (the distaff side of a self-made man). I cheered for her throughout. I love that Tantalus club. It was great to have appearances from characters of precious titles and now I really want to hear about Jenny. I doff my cap to Anne Flosnick for another brilliant job.

I enjoyed this book and I have to face it if LK writes it I will read or listen to it. It is a very unique perspective on a paranormal story. I love the setting so much that it maybe is why I am not fussed about the Twilight Zone aspects.(cue Rod Serling). I know when this author tells a story the research that goes into the topic is almost another character.

William, the sixth Duke of Pelham, enjoys his punctual, securely structured life. Orderly and predictable-that's the way he likes it. But he's in the public eye, and the scandal sheets will make up anything to sell papers. When the gossips link him to Juliette, one of the most beautiful and celebrated courtesans in London, chaos doesn't begin to describe what happens next....

    Story

I thought this book had an unique plot. I was intrigued and glad I bought this story. The writing was excellent. I will look for the next book in the series. The main characters were described so vividly this provided extra depth to the book. Although I listened to the sample I think the Britspeak disappeared except when there was dialogue. This did not bother me overmuch as I was so enthralled by the story. This will not win any awards for narration but to me well worth the listen. Check out an audio sample if you are on the fence. The narrator's voice quality is very nice.

Alex Nolan is as bitter and cynical as they come. One of three Nolan brothers who call Friday Harbor home, he’s nothing like Sam or Mark. They actually believe in love; they think the risk of pain is worth the chance of happiness. But Alex battles his demons with the help of a whiskey bottle, and he lives in his own private hell. And then a ghost shows up. Only Alex can see him. Has Alex finally crossed over the threshold to insanity? Zoë Hoffman is as gentle and romantic as they come. When she meets Alex, all her instincts tell her to run.

    Story

I enjoyed this story so much. I thought Zoe and Alex were such a great couple. All the emotional baggage from their childhood made things so difficult. The social issues of alcoholism and dementia were adeptly handled and very realistic. If you have ever had to deal with either of these issues the hope contained in this story made it a magical listen. I did not hate the narrator. I dove into this book with a sincere desire to like it and so my attitude was a positive one. I did listen to the sample to see it the other reviewers comments were valid. I know where they are coming from but I have heard much worse and I thought the passages of prose were very well done indeed. The cat's role was a comic relief. Parts of the book were faintly reminiscent of the old Suzanne Brockmann Troubleshooters when she had the WWII storyline woven in with the present day setting. I applaud Lisa Kleypas for writing this book and will definitely buy the next one in the series. In closing I would like to know where she gets her ideas for love scenes because she can write a smoking one.

The plot was a twist on the old femme fatale getting military secrets and what happens after that. There was an element of a Cold War but on another planet. The beginning had a seduction and sex but there was not freedom to continue the affair. Not just sex scenes linked by a weak plot. I rooted for the star crossed lovers and listened well past my bedtime. I couldn't figure out how they would resolve the trouble. I look forward to more.
