This was my first foray into the backlist of Anne Stuart. I truly enjoyed the listen. From the beginning of arriving at the estate to translate meetings for international businessmen to finding herself the object of manipulation and possibly execution was smooth and exciting. Well worth the credit. I see this is a series so I will definitely add them to my wish list. A fast paced, sexy, spy book
The plot. pacing, Nucking Futz Nix, humor and and chemistry, What more could you ask for.? Another winner from Kresley Cole. Any fan of the IAD series will not be disappointed. My only gripe is the use of the word little. I ate this book up like one who was starved so I need give it a second listen but this book shone for me. Love Kresley Cole. She stays true to the series and still keeps us guessing. Dark Skye introduces new dimensions and a few new characters and is fantastic.
This was a very funny book in parts. The narration was adequate but not as rich as the writing demanded. Having a snarky comment read in a monotone just did not cut it for me. I liked the humor but the ex boyfriend was a yawn and eluded capture for way too long. The author describes this group of super handsome guys who are all in phenomenal shape and brilliant. The baddest of the bad or best of the best and they fail to find one lowlife idiot. Drove me nuts. Writing descriptions of characters portraying them as the best at their job and then not being able to do it rankles me and I find it happens way too often. Worth a try but probably not be getting anymore. I think a different narrator would've changed the tone for me and made it rise a star.
I kept thinking this went on for way too long and wanted the book to get to the point. Not enough story just same conflict over and over. Started out very well then fell flat.
I have listened to or read all of John Sanford's books. I listened to this book and was irked by the lack of progress in the case. It is well written and the narrator is wonderful. Just not my favorite. Has flashes of the greatness that is John Sanford. I found myself thinking that the villain was not smarter than all of the BCA so why did it take so long to catch him. Then there is the moment when you say I totally saw that coming and it led to me being disappointed. Overall worth it because who doesn't love Letty, Lucas, Weather and f##ing Flowers.
I am so squee happy that I found this book. It is one of my favorites by the grand dame Georgetter Heyer. Hello lock meet key. That is the fit of this narrator to this story. I highly recommend you buy this wonderful book. I read it and loved it and had the abridged version and sighed because I wanted the full "fotherby". Now I have it. Great story, great narration, great characters what more do you need? ( I know Arabella then I will probably embarrass myself.) Love this book. Thank you to the publisher Naxos books the updated version of this classic it was a long time coming. If the world has multiple versions of Pride and Prejudice then it is high time for Heyer.
Kresley Cole really hits her stride when she writes the two stories about the Woede. Robert Petkoff is genius with the British and Australian accents. He narrated Josh Bazell's book and you cannot imagine the range until you hear the difference. This story has such great chemistry between the two protagonists. It just makes me want more. Even though I own the books in print I had to get the audio and wow I cannot believe the price. Amazes me that books I hate cost twice as much. Well done whoever decides this.
It is the southern setting or the characters or the plot or all of the above but I listen to this book whenever I want to relax. It is one of my favorites. Some parts are a bit earthy but I think it adds to the flavor. The characters are so complex and sympathetic. It is like Sandra Brown's Envy or Ain't She Sweet by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. A good mix of pleasure and pain. I read all kinds of books but this book hits me where I live.
Great concept and execution. Well worth the time to sit back relax and do housework and while away the hours with this western. I knew what would happen or rather I hoped I knew what would happen. Life is Hard so I need my Happily Ever After. I was not disappointed.
The narration was very slow. The story pace was slow and the characters were not my favorite. It was not an enjoyable book for me. I increased the playback speed and doggedly finished this listen. I will not continue this trilogy. The idea was excellent but I think the narrator might've ruined it for me. Next.
I have enjoyed all the books in this series except for the second one it was good but I did not like the conflict. This book had such a great heroine (the distaff side of a self-made man). I cheered for her throughout. I love that Tantalus club. It was great to have appearances from characters of precious titles and now I really want to hear about Jenny. I doff my cap to Anne Flosnick for another brilliant job.
