"Immortals After Dark Finally the Time has Come"
I read and listen to all kinds of books but Kresley Cole and Robert Petkoff make a winning team. This was a joy to listen to it was action packed, funny, well written as well as well read. The mood of the series is wonderfully captured in this audio version. The characters, setting and the ambiance are world class. I recommend any and everthing by this author. It is a very good romance and a great story.
"It doesn't get any Better than this for me."
Kresley Cole really hits her stride when she writes the two stories about the Woede. Robert Petkoff is genius with the British and Australian accents. He narrated Josh Bazell's book and you cannot imagine the range until you hear the difference. This story has such great chemistry between the two protagonists. It just makes me want more. Even though I own the books in print I had to get the audio and wow I cannot believe the price. Amazes me that books I hate cost twice as much. Well done whoever decides this.
"I listen to this book over and over."
It is the southern setting or the characters or the plot or all of the above but I listen to this book whenever I want to relax. It is one of my favorites. Some parts are a bit earthy but I think it adds to the flavor. The characters are so complex and sympathetic. It is like Sandra Brown's Envy or Ain't She Sweet by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. A good mix of pleasure and pain. I read all kinds of books but this book hits me where I live.
"Giddyup"
Great concept and execution. Well worth the time to sit back relax and do housework and while away the hours with this western. I knew what would happen or rather I hoped I knew what would happen. Life is Hard so I need my Happily Ever After. I was not disappointed.
"More like the Reader Trap"
The narration was very slow. The story pace was slow and the characters were not my favorite. It was not an enjoyable book for me. I increased the playback speed and doggedly finished this listen. I will not continue this trilogy. The idea was excellent but I think the narrator might've ruined it for me. Next.
"Exciting book leaving me to want the next one."
I have enjoyed all the books in this series except for the second one it was good but I did not like the conflict. This book had such a great heroine (the distaff side of a self-made man). I cheered for her throughout. I love that Tantalus club. It was great to have appearances from characters of precious titles and now I really want to hear about Jenny. I doff my cap to Anne Flosnick for another brilliant job.
"Paranormally good."
I enjoyed this book and I have to face it if LK writes it I will read or listen to it. It is a very unique perspective on a paranormal story. I love the setting so much that it maybe is why I am not fussed about the Twilight Zone aspects.(cue Rod Serling). I know when this author tells a story the research that goes into the topic is almost another character.
"wow Brilliant"
I thought this book had an unique plot. I was intrigued and glad I bought this story. The writing was excellent. I will look for the next book in the series. The main characters were described so vividly this provided extra depth to the book. Although I listened to the sample I think the Britspeak disappeared except when there was dialogue. This did not bother me overmuch as I was so enthralled by the story. This will not win any awards for narration but to me well worth the listen. Check out an audio sample if you are on the fence. The narrator's voice quality is very nice.
"A wonderful RRRRomance"
I enjoyed this story so much. I thought Zoe and Alex were such a great couple. All the emotional baggage from their childhood made things so difficult. The social issues of alcoholism and dementia were adeptly handled and very realistic. If you have ever had to deal with either of these issues the hope contained in this story made it a magical listen. I did not hate the narrator. I dove into this book with a sincere desire to like it and so my attitude was a positive one. I did listen to the sample to see it the other reviewers comments were valid. I know where they are coming from but I have heard much worse and I thought the passages of prose were very well done indeed. The cat's role was a comic relief. Parts of the book were faintly reminiscent of the old Suzanne Brockmann Troubleshooters when she had the WWII storyline woven in with the present day setting. I applaud Lisa Kleypas for writing this book and will definitely buy the next one in the series. In closing I would like to know where she gets her ideas for love scenes because she can write a smoking one.
"Riveting characters and plot. Out of this world."
The plot was a twist on the old femme fatale getting military secrets and what happens after that. There was an element of a Cold War but on another planet. The beginning had a seduction and sex but there was not freedom to continue the affair. Not just sex scenes linked by a weak plot. I rooted for the star crossed lovers and listened well past my bedtime. I couldn't figure out how they would resolve the trouble. I look forward to more.
"My Favorite of the IAD finally in Audio."
The author and narrator both shine in this outing from the Immorttals After Dark series. I think this book just really encapsulated the joy and humor that I love about the series. Robert Petkoff does it again. He brings the naughty Woede to life. I think this is my favorite book from the whole series just because it is so funny and also so very sexy.
