When you have to kill the same terrorist twice in one week there’s either something wrong with your world or something wrong with your skills - and there’s nothing wrong with Joe Ledger’s skills. And that’s both a good and a bad thing. It’s good because he’s a Baltimore detective who has just been secretly recruited by the government to lead a new task force created to deal with the problems that Homeland Security can’t handle....

Too centered on main character, too little character development for others. Good fight sequences, but it turns predictable towards the end.

Nora Kelly, a young archaeologist in Santa Fe, receives a letter written 16 years ago, yet mysteriously mailed only recently. In it her father, long believed dead, hints at a fantastic discovery that will make him famous and rich - the lost city of an ancient civilization that suddenly vanished a thousand years ago. Now Nora is leading an expedition into a harsh, remote corner of Utah's canyon country, but what she unearths will be the newest of horrors.

But the narrator, scott brick, ruins it. He over emphasizes everything and has little inflection. Read the book and skip the listen.

Lieutenant Commander Matthew Reddy, along with the men and women of the USS Walker, have chosen sides in a war not of their making. They have allied with the Lemurians - a mammalian race whose peaceful existence is under attack from the warlike, reptilian Grik. The Lemurians are vastly outnumbered and ignorant of warfare, and even the guns and technology of Walker cannot turn the tide of battle.

But still pretty good. Traditional act ii stuff and leaves you a bit disappointed, but will definitely check out book 3.

  • World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War

    • ABRIDGED (6 hrs and 3 mins)

The Zombie War came unthinkably close to eradicating humanity. Max Brooks, driven by the urgency of preserving the acid-etched first-hand experiences of the survivors from those apocalyptic years, traveled across the United States of America and throughout the world, from decimated cities that once teemed with upwards of 30 million souls, to the most remote and inhospitable areas of the planet.

Expecting a chronological telling of the fictional zombie future, I bought this thinking I would be entertained but unsurprised- I am happy to say I was wrong on one count. WWZ presents a unique form of information convention- more like a NPR report on public radio than the telling of a story. The actors used were also a splendid edition, adding to the suspension of reality, drawing you into the idea, making it feel right and real. Thsi has to be one of the most entertaining audio books I've ever downloaded- I listened start to finish and could barely peel myself away to use the restroom. 5 stars all around- I recommend it to all, especialy the real zombie apocolypse/end of the world/horror connoisseur!
