On a hot July afternoon, a worker at an Antietam Creek construction site drives the blade of his backhoe into a layer of soil - and strikes a 5,000-year-old human skull. The discovery draws plenty of attention and a lot of controversy. It also changes the life of one woman in ways she never expected.

Terrible narrator!! I only started listening to the book and I am already not sure I want to continue listening. It sounds as if this lady does not think it necessary to use any punctuation in her reading...it's all wrong! She reads 4 words and pauses and all done with this awe in her voice...I have been a member of audible for about 6 years and this is one of the worse narrators; Sorry Bernadette.

Follet's sensational best seller is set just before the outbreak of World War I, when Britain must enlist the aid of Russia. Czar Nicholas' nephew is to visit London for secret naval talks with Lord Walden, who has lived in Russia and has a Russian wife, Lydia. But there are other people who are interested in the arrival of Prince Alexei.

I really don't like the abridged versions of books. With this one, I was a bit lost and the whole story fell flat; no meat on the bones, didn't work for me. I wish you wouldn't allow abridged versions of Ken Follett's books!

Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

This is a boring and very predictable book! At the end of the first half I started fast forwarding and kept doing that without losing out on the 'story'. This information would have been better in a short pamphlet!
