A famous Russian writer and ex-paratrooper named Alexander Kurbsky has gotten fed up with the Putin government, and decides he wants to "disappear" into the West. He is under no illusions, however, about how the news will be greeted at home, having seen too many of his countrymen die mysteriously at the hands of the thuggish Russian security services, so he makes elaborate plans with Charles Ferguson, Sean Dillon and the rest of the group known informally as the "Prime Minister's private army".

Thomas says: "Best Jack Higgins book in several years"
    "Enjoy Sean Dillon"
    Overall

Glad Sean finally has a girl friend. He's reason I keep reading the books although he's not as prominent as he used to be. It was nice to see how Roper was injured.

The incomparable master of the legal thriller takes us deeper into the labyrinth that is the American justice system, always drawing us in with an irresistible hook, pulling the thread of tension tighter and tighter, and then knocking us out with a conclusion that's never "by the book". Maybe that's why, after more than 20 years of consecutive number-one New York Times best sellers, a new novel by America's favorite storyteller is still a major publishing event.

    June says: "Typical Grisham, entertaining"
"Perhaps the best Grisham book ever."

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This was such a great book, I didn't want to get out of my car when I got to my destination. I also found myself going places I didn't have to go, just so I could listen to the book.

What did you like best about this story?

    The good guys won.

What about Dennis Boutsikaris???s performance did you like?

Excellent voice that made you want to like the characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Absolutely.

    Any additional comments?

Excellent legal thriller, with twists, problems, unexpected events----but the good guy wins in the end. My kind of book.

Putin and the Russians have suffered too many killings of their own people in the past. Now they want the whole of the 'Prime Minister's private army' wiped out, including Blake Johnson and Charles Ferguson. Somebody is after them: Blake, Harry Miller, his sister, Monica, Harry Salter and Billy. The only people spared are Roper and Dillon. After surviving a car bomb, Ferguson heads a desperate search to uncover the perpetrator.

Sean Dillon books are all becoming too much alike. The stories aren't going anywhere. This book started out with a bang and went out with barely a whimper.

He came to England to rest. He calls himself Michael Shaeffer, says he's a retired American businessman. He goes to the races, dates a kinky aristocrat, and sleeps with dozens of weapons. Ten years ago it was different. Then, he was the Butcher's Boy, the highly skilled mob hit man who pulled a slaughter job on some double-crossing clients and started a mob war. Ever since, there's been a price on his head. Now, after a decade, they've found him.

    Toni says: ""Utterly unpredictable""
"Not as good as Butcher's Boy"
    Overall

This sequel was not as good as Butcher's Boy. Too unbelievable.

She also opens up for the first time about the 2008 presidential race, providing a rare, mom's-eye view of high-stakes national politics - from patriots dedicated to "Country First" to slick politicos bent on winning at any cost.

Abridged version jumped around too much. Was very difficult to follow in places. Enjoyed hearing Sarah read her book. Just wish it had been unabridged version.

Detective Alex Cross is pulled out of a family celebration and given the awful news that a beloved relative has been found brutally murdered. Alex vows to hunt down the killer, and soon learns that she was mixed up in one of Washington's wildest scenes. And she was not this killer's only victim.

David says: "Double Crossed.. Double Good"
"Might be my last Alex Cross book"
    Overall

These books have left storylines developing the main characters and turned into "get a story out quick and try to be as shocking as possible." We love these characters and now the stories are just unnecessarily sexually graphic. Get back to telling us about the main characters and maybe I'll come back to the Alex Cross series.

It's April, 1988, a month before Kinsey Millhone's 38th birthday, and she's alone in her office doing paperwork when a young man arrives unannounced. He has a preppy air about him and looks as if he'd be carded if he tried to buy booze, but Michael Sutton is 27, an unemployed college dropout. Twenty-one years earlier, a four-year-old girl disappeared, and a recent reference to her kidnapping has triggered a flood of memories.

BSquared67 says: "A brilliant departure from the familiar"
"Not the best, a bit disappointing"
    Overall

When Kinsey is discovering information about her family, this book is very good. Unfortunately, the parallel storyline isn't that good & overall the book is a bit disappointing.

But thanks to the intervention of Lionel Farr - a professor at Caldwell, the local college - Darrow became an excellent student and, later, a superb trial lawyer.
