I thought the overall performance was bad. The different voices she used were annoying, but especially her man voice.
I didn't really hear a good one.
Don't waste your time, money, credits...whatever...
So the story's okay, but only okay. I started out just listening to the audiobook, but I also had the ebook. I was about half way through when I decided to quit listening and just skim through the ebook, just so could see the outcome. I think the narrator turned me off from the book, and it wasn't really like she was terrible, just not a great fit for this book. I ended up not skimming the ebook and actually really reading it because it was better than the audio. I ended up listening to about the last 1 1/2 hours of the book and still have to say the audiobook wasn't great...
I seriously only got about 30 minutes in before I decided to return this. The narrator has a high voice that gets even higher when she's doing the main girl's voice. It's pretty bad. I've loved all of Dannika Dark's books so far and I was really looking forward to listening to one but I looks like I'll have to stick with the ebooks.
I love Ally Carter's books and while I have to admit I didn't love it quite as much as her two other series, it was still great and good set up for the rest of the series. I read/listened non-stop other than a short break to sleep. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes a good book with clean language, no graphic sexual situations, a little espionage, and strong characters.
No, there was just too much sex for my taste.
As I just mentioned, no, not unless it was a Young Adult book or something I can safely guess is a lot cleaner than this story. There was a LOT of sex in this book, the F word was used often too. That's a turn off for me.
I didn't really have a problem with the narrator, I just felt like it could have been better. Every once in a while she seemed a little monotone to me, but not often enough to really get on my nerves or anything. I don't know...she wasn't bad, she wasn't great, just kind of so/so.
I actually really liked the story, the romance was pretty good, I just don't think sex equals romance. I get that people in love (and often not in love, let's face it) have sex, but I just think there's more to a great romance than that. I prefer to be led to that scene, kind of have it implied, and then let's go on with some actual plot line!
Yes, I loved all the snarky humor, sarcasm, and the storyline was great! The narration was great as well, I love the voices is that she gave for each character.
I don't want to provide any spoilers, so I can't go into detail, but the ending was very memorable.
Pretty much all of the scenes between Lex and Driggs. Their little love story is so funny, I love it!
Again, the ending. Can't go into it…
I really loved the series, I was a bit saddened by the end of it. Enough said.
The book itself wasn't bad, it just wasn't that good. I didn't enjoy the narration very much. I don't really know who this would appeal to more.
Most interesting...hmmm. Probably for me the outsiders view of people with large families. I come from a family of five kids, so not quite as big as the family in this story, but I remember being surprised in school when I told people how many siblings I had and them commenting that it was a lot. But we never really got comments from others like this family did, although I have close friends who have had that experience with their six kids. The least interesting to me... I guess maybe her relationship with her shallow little best friend. And I cringed every time they said her name. Nan, Nano, Nanny...ugh, sorry but it was annoying the way they used it.
I don't know who specifically, but someone a little younger sounding and someone with a little more inflection in their voice. I thought she was a tiny bit monotone.
A lot of the parts with Nan.
I'm unsure. Definitely not the audio version, I do not like this narrator. I liked the story but I did think there is too much sex in it. I got frustrated with characters decisions from time to time but I still want to know what's going to happen. So all that being said, I don't know that I would recommend it to a friend yet, I think I need to see where the rest of the story goes before deciding.
Not at all, I quite enjoy the genre.
Her voice is annoying. She sounds kind airheaded to me and immature. Her enunciation is fine so that's not a problem I just think it's her voice that bothers me. I had forgotten that I listened to one other story from her and really did not like her when I bought this. I did listen the whole way through so it wasn't annoying enough for me to quit, but I will not buy more books with her narration.
No, the reader spoke so slowly & his pronunciations were kind of annoying.
Yes. The story wasn't bad, I think it could actually be pretty good if I read it myself instead of listening to it.
No, in fact, I had downloaded the 2nd book before really getting into this one & I plan to return it.
Possibly. Hadn't really thought of it...
Three words...a better narrator.
The actual story itself has been great so far (I'm about 3 hours in and seriously can't take anymore!). There's been some action, a little humor, some romantic sparks...some of the essentials for me.
Oh my gosh, the men's voices were the absolute worst! They sounded like they were mentally handicapped or something, and I don't mean that as I insult to the mentally handicapped, it just sounded like such an effort to get every little word out. I can't begin to explain how annoying it is. It's....like...listening...to...a...whole...book...this...way... Can you see why that would be frustrating? Yeah, seriously, every time a man spoke! Ugh!!
None of them, just Chandra Skyye.
Save yourself the annoyance, just download the ebook, it's much more enjoyable.
The author was soooooo repetitive. "The Valkyrie," "my gypsy magic," "the Amazon," etc. It was really annoying. She talked about the same things over and over and used the same phrases over and over. I also didn't really enjoy this narrator. Her voice was just kind of grating to me.
As mentioned above, less repetitiveness, but also this book was fairly predictable. I just don't think I'm a Jennifer Estep fan. I tried an adult fantasy book of hers and only got around 5 or 6 chapters in before quitting. Her books just don't really hook me.
I just didn't like her voice. She put enough emphasis and drama and whatnot into the reading, I just thought her voice sounded to old for Gwen. Not like an old lady voice, just too old for a teenage girl.
I read so many positive reviews on this book. I don't understand how so many people enjoyed this book so much, it just wasn't for me. I typically love this genre, but this book is a dud as far as I'm concerned.
