This is a great travel book, not too girly for the guys, enough likable charecters for the girls and a fast paced mystery for all.
If you are looking for something that will satisfy both male and female listeners - this is it. Keeps you laughing.
If you haven’t met the Drake sisters, this a the first book you'll want to read. Don't be concerned if you can't keep the sisters straight because you will get a chance to know each sister as the series continues. Lot's of magic and mystical happenings set with characters you will enjoy. Be aware that there is graphic (almost pornographic) sex in some of the later books. This one is pretty tame - especially since it is abridged.
I wish that an unabridged version had been an option.
Come on - just because the name has gold in it you are not allowed to use the word golden at least once in every five minutes of reading. If you choose to begin this book, beware of the overuse of golden, liquid and velvet. If that doesn't give you enough clues, know that yes, there is a thin plot but it creeps so slowly that you will have 15 to 20 minutes of "feelings" and not one bit of plot advancement. I rarely give up on a book - but I just could not take any more of the insipid dialog or the hero's golden stare, his liquid voice that was like velvet or the heroine's quickened pulse.
What a sad, depressing tale. I am sorry that I spent money on this one and sorrier still that I spent 12 hours listening to it
