This audio book caught me from the first sentence. This has never happened to me before, though I have listened to a few of Edward Hermann's narrations and many other great audio books. He has the ability to not take over the book, but deliver it with the proper emotions and feelings for the subject. This book was fantastic, never lagging.
When I purchased this audio I wasn't sure what to expect, but it quickly fascinated me to learn how English became such a widely used language, how it evolved and where the origin of many of our words today came from. Wonderfully read and informative. Just what I was hoping for.
My husband really enjoys true stories and so I often choose with him in mind. This book captured my attention from the very first and kept it all the way to the end. It was written so well we could picture the characters and feel their reactions to all the happenings they encountered. An excellent audio and the conversation at the end with the author and some of the divers was the icing on the cake. Well worth the listen.
