Occasionally a book is so good that rather than not being able to put it down, you slow down the read, or the listen, and hope it goes on and on. This is one of those books!

A fellow assassin, equally professional and dangerous, Reel is every bit as lethal as Robie. And now, she's gone rogue, turning her gun sights on other members of their agency.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The book is very good. The female performance could be improved significantly!

If you’ve listened to books by David Baldacci before, how does this one compare?

    Performance was weaker than others!

Would you be willing to try another one of Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy ’s performances?

Not likely! The female voice detracts from the overall performance.

Do you think The Hit needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes, Will Robbie is a good character and still has legs!

From one of our finest military historians comes a monumental work that shows us at once the truly global reach of World War II and its deeply personal consequences. Remarkably informed and wide-ranging, Inferno is both elegantly written and cogently argued. Above all, it is a new and essential understanding of one of the greatest and bloodiest events of the 20th century.

Would you consider the audio edition of Inferno to be better than the print version?

The audio edition of this book allowed be to stick with an intensely detailed and lengthy reading that I may have put aside.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Winston Churchill is always my favorite character.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was "awed" by the individual stories as the war was presented from the view of those impacted most by it.

    Any additional comments?

I chose this reading to bridge the gap between "The Last Lion" Vol II and the yet to be published Vol III. It deserves much more than the role of a "filler" and is clearly a "stand alone" reading in its own right.

Would you consider the audio edition of Debt of Honor to be better than the print version?

I almost passed on this one due to the comments on the quality of the narration. That would have been a big mistake. The story is great, as usual, and the narration if "OK"! Don't miss it!

He would go to Hell.... At the Iron Mountain Home for Boys, there was nothing but time. Time to burn and time to kill, time for two young orphans to learn that life isn’t won without a fight. Julian survives only because his older brother, Michael, is fearless and fiercely protective. When tensions boil over and a boy is brutally killed, there is only one sacrifice left for Michael to make: He flees the orphanage and takes the blame with him.

Divorced from his own wife and carrying on halfheartedly with another man's, saddled with a bum knee and friends who make enemies redundant, Sully now has one new problem to cope with: a long-estranged son who is in imminent danger of following in his father's footsteps. With its sly and uproarious humor and a heart that embraces humanity's follies as well as its triumphs, Nobody's Fool is storytelling at its most generous.

Nobody's Fool is a well written, enjoyable story, but it's not Bridge of Sighs, or Empire Falls!

Forced out of the Los Angeles Times amid the latest budget cuts, newspaperman Jack McEvoy decides to go out with a bang, using his final days at the paper to write the definitive murder story of his career. He focuses on Alonzo Winslow, a 16-year-old drug dealer in jail after confessing to a brutal murder. But as he delves into the story, Jack realizes that Winslow's so-called confession is bogus. The kid might actually be innocent.

    Overall

This is my first Michael Connelly book. It was enjoyable, but not outstanding. The story line is interesting, but the dialogue is often "corny" and filled with cliches. The narration frequently comes across as artificially melodramatic. Is it a good listen on a long drive? Definitely! Is it a "don't miss it"? No it is not!
