His task is to punish the Fallen - angels who have become vampires - and command a restless pack of indentured lycans. But Adrian has suffered his own punishment for becoming involved with mortals - losing the woman he loves again and again. Overall I'd say I enjoyed this story. It's not the best I've experienced but certainly far from the worst. This is one of those times when I think if I had actually read the story, I would have enjoyed it more with the voices my own imagination would have come up with. I do have to say that the reader (Luke Daniels) is acceptable for the most part but his voice for one of the angels was distracting for me (he sounded like Jack Nicholson, really...Jack Nicholson an angel?) and he often spoke far too slowly for many of the male characters. Apart from that though he was fairly believable. I'm definitely interested in looking up some of the subsequent stories in this series.

Possessing a secret strong enough to end an entire race of demons, Darcy unwittingly becomes a pawn in an epic battle between the vampires and the weres as she discovers a new world filled with ecstasy - and dark passions. Consumed with lust for Darcy, Styx - the Anasso of vampires - will do everything in his power to keep her out of the lair of Salvatore Giuliani, the deadly leader of the weres. But protecting the woman he loves could cost Styx the ultimate price.

I love vampire/werewolf/supernatural stories; it really doesn't take much to please me but this one is just not worth it. The over-use of the word "cripes!" is absolutely annoying (does this author know how to use a Thesaurus?) I honestly don't think this heroine knows any other words that can describe shock, surprise, disbelief?! I don't think she does. I feel like this author is working to know use profanity, I can respect that, but seriously....use other words!

As far as the story is concerned I felt it was extremely weak as well. It has potential but no build-up and real character development. This woman has fallen into bed with a man/vampire who kidnapped her and is a total stranger...immediately. Uh huh...suuuuure! This is supposed to be a woman too who has had to depend upon herself and she's just going to immediately do something like that?!

I will say this one could potentially have been improved upon with a different reader. Arika Rapson (in my opinion) simply isn't much of an actress to pull off the characters. She makes more of an attempt with the Gargoyle than anyone but, generally speaking, all the characters just sound like her reading and not very enthusiastically at that. I noticed she reads more of this authors books too which is enough to keep me from downloading those ones as well.

Half-way into the book I'm still not "into" this book, it's ho-hum and boring for me so I'm asking for my credit back.

Centuries ago Acheron saved the human race by imprisoning an ancient evil bent on absolute destruction. Now that evil has been unleashed and it is out for revenge. As the twin to Acheron, Styxx hasn’t always been on his brother's side. They've spent more centuries going at each other's throats than protecting their backs. Now Styxx has a chance to prove his loyalty to his brother, but only if he's willing to trade his life and future for Acheron's.

I'm a huge Kresley Cole fan with ther Immortals After Dark series so I thought I would give her YA series a go...I'm really glad I did. They are just as well written and I find I'm really enjoying Emma Galvin as the narrator as well, a mediocre narrator can really ruin a book but Emma does this one justice.

I love Sherrilyn's books and especially love listening to them at work. I'm really glad that I started with books that were narrated by Holter Graham or Fred Berman because if I had started with this one, I'm not positive I would have bought another audio book. Carrington's narration, especially with her long drawn out far too sweet southern accent, grated on my nerves. Amanda was far from a "Southern Bell" but that's how Carrington made her sound. One can be born and raised in the deep south and not sound like Scarlet O'Hara! Fortunately the story line won out for me, I persevered through the cavity inducing southern accent and enjoyed the story overall. I may avoid Carrington's narrations of Sherrilyn's other books if she does more of them. Give me Fred Berman or Holter Graham any day!

    Story

I have been a fan of Christine Feehan's for several years, read everything she's put out. I can't believe I'm actually going to say this but this one is awful. It's so not up to par for Feehan and the Dark Series. At first I bought the book and tried to read it, I just couldn't get into it. The characters this time are just boring, the story is weak too and with vampire's, werewolves, and Carpathian's mixed together...this story shouldn't be boring.

So, I thought perhaps the audio book will be better and I will enjoy it more that way....nope. The reader (Robert Sarkus) is soooo ho-hum. He is almost monotone and I actually found myself getting into a database I was working on and drifting away from the story constantly. When listening in my car...I still wasn't drawn in enough to listen to the story over my own thoughts. This is actually one that I'm sending back to audible in order to get a refund, I can't even force myself to finish it.

This one was a big let down!

I've already downloaded the sequel to this book...can't wait to read/listen to it.

I have one thing to say about Robert Petkoff reading these books....WOW!!! He is the perfect person to read these characters. Rarely do you come across an actor who can not only play all male characters very convincingly but also play female characters and make you forget it's a male reading the character. Not to mention the accents he does are spot on! He makes listening to these great stories so enjoyable I find myself getting lost in them. I'd like to hear him read Christine Feehan's books as well...he'd be perfect for those too!
