I was expecting another light read, something that I'd fly through quickly. But what I got was a beautifully written engaging story involving complex characters who touched my heart. I can't wait for Larry Benjamin to publish another book. This was a real find, and it will stay with me for a long time.

Thomas Edward, the narrator, shows the reader a world much different from his own. He is kind and loving, and these traits make him credible and finally someone the reader cares a lot about.

I loved it. The story is unique and dynamic, populated with richly drawn complicated characters. I was very moved.

"She's Come Undone" is the unlikely story of Delores Price, whose life is repeatedly marked by tragedy, abuse and illness. When she loses control of her life, Delores resists help and trusts no one. But she ultimately discovers a strength she didn't know was inside her. She is not a stereotypical gritty heroine who fights against the odds to get a better life. She is bewildered by the many twists and turns her path takes. In the hands of a less gifted writer this story could have become absurd, but it does not. Delores emerges as an unforgettable character who maneuvers her way through the obstacles she encounters, even when she is unsure where to go. She will stay with me forever.

The book provides an insider's view of a very secretive environment, one I knew nothing about. While strong friendships are forged, the cadets endure horrific acts of torture during their hazing period. The writing is so good, and the characters are so beautifull developed, that despite portions that were difficult to hear, I could not stop listening. The ironic juxtapostion of this brutal enclave with the gentility of Charleston, S.C. makes the whole story all the more fascinating. I reommend it highly.

The narrator was truly flawless. His ability to change inflections and tone for each character made it easy to know which one was speaking. He brought life to the drama on the page.

One of the best audiobooks I've listened to. Classic John Irving at his best. Fascinating characters and stirring, intriguing narrative that kept me involved from beginning to end. I'd have to go all the way back to "The World According To Garp" to find John Irving in such fine form.

An absolutely original story, sensitively and skillfully written.

Billy Abbott, the narrator, lives an extraordinary life but is realistic and believable. His first love, Miss Frost, is outstanding.John Benjamin Hickey, an accomplished actor, was the perfect narrator. He delivered a stunning performance. It would not have been the same in anyone else's hands.

One of the best. Readers are excellent and writing is impeccable.

Let the Great World Spin, also by Colum McCann. Different kind of story but told in a similar way. The characters intersect and intertwine, each with his or her own story.

It would have to be Rudi, the center of everyone's attention. Complex, callous, insecure, he had a charisma that drew people to him even as his cruelty pushed them away.
