"you either love it or hate it"
There is really no middle ground on the revues of this book. I found the heroine to act a lot more like a teen aged brat than a woman in her early twenties. I read the reviews of the next books in the series and although the reviews do get better I suspect that is because quite a few people do not choose to read any more of the books.
"not as expected"
This book is actually a mediocre romance with a sprinkling of the paranormal. The romance was tepid and the paranormal aspect was pathetic.
"could have been better"
This book has a very unique plot and I will try the next book in the series, even though I found the reader to be a bit monotinous and jerky in her reading style. Even though this book was the first in a new series, I felt a bit like I was reading a book in the middle of a series and had missed out on some of the back story.
"not much of a plot"
On the positive side, the author has a wonderful vocabulary and the reader is capable. The book is way too long for the limited and predictable plot. I am glad I got it on sale and didnt waste a credit on it. I fell asleep several times and had trouble rewinding and finding my place since the same scenes seemed to keep repeating and the plot moves with all the speed of a soap opera.
"sci fi or romance"
This does resemble an old Star trek, but I cant make it past the first few chapters when Scotty got cycled out through the air lock. This is one of those futuristic romances written in the eighties by an author who should have stuck to plots in the twentieth century.
"yawn"
I fell asleep several times while listening to this book, but it did not really matter since so little was happening with the plot. Fortunately, I got it off of a sale list and did not waste a credit on it.
"glad it was on the sale table"
I used to enjoy this author so perhaps my taste has changed over the years. The reader made the mediocre story even worse by growling the male characters.
"great book, wrong reader"
It is very difficult to critique a great book that is difficult to listen to due to the wrong reader. Buy the book if you have any choice in this matter. Jenks sounds like a three year old girl and some of the other charactors are even worse.
"is this a kids book"
I purchased this book thinking it was for an adult, but it seems to be written more for the kids market. I have enjoyed Ms Mccaffeys work for many years, but this is the last book of hers that I will purchase.
"very confusing"
After about two hours of listening, I found the plot to be very confusing. Unfortunately, I did not find either the characters or what plot I did understand to be interesting enough to continue listening to the book. The sexualcontent and violence seemed to interfere with the story line rather than enhance it. This book is getting filed in the once is enough file.
