In some ways, it was a very good dramatization & gave good depth to characters.

Some of the back story novels of strong female roles; Iris Johansen's Eve Duncan or Tess Gerritsen's Jane Rizzoli, a prequel that explains some of their motives in future books.

Resolving the mysteries of past generations, putting past demons to rest.

It made me smile, to think that old wrongs were righted.

A good story, laying the groundwork for sequels that I will definately put on my wishlist.

I have both read & re-read the book and listened to the audiobook multiple times. The print version is super, the audiobook does add another dimension of sound that adds to the urgency and Scott Brick is the perfect voice for a Nelson DeMille/John Corey novel.

Tough choice ... without doubt, the explosion of flight 800 over L.I.Sound grabs your attention, but then the scheduled meeting at Windows on the World comes at you with such impending doom that you cannot turn away from ... this book is a rollercoaster that does not stop.

Many, he always does a super job, he has just the right inflection, speaking John Corey's lines just as I'd expect.

The end, the aftermath ... we will never be the same.

Fast plot, great dialog, super characters, terrific narrator ... I didn't want it to end.

So many ... Harry Muller, in the Custer Hill Club board room, figuring it all out. In desperate straits but able to send a cryptic message ... can John & Kate decipher it?

John & Kate in the bomb shelter, taking care of business, then hearing a voice in another room ... that does not seem possible ...

Sometimes fiction comes pretty close to truth ... and in this day & age, the thought of a Project Green or a Bane Maddox ... or a Ted Nash being real, only makes me hope, wish, pray for a real John Corey, too.

John Sandford's characters get richer & deeper with each new book in the series. His people don't get flat with time, they become even more dimentional the more you learn about them.

Our hero, Lucas Davenport has become a family man ... but has not lost one speck of his intense, sometimes vigilante-like drive ... he may even be more driven now.

Lettie uses her "spidey-sence" and saves the day!

... even in the most dire situations, these cops make me smile ... everytime someones says, " ... that f*#kin' Flowers!" ... or my new favorite cuss-line, " ... f*#k me w/a telephone pole!" ... ya' gotta laugh! :)

Sure, I enjoy a re-listen to the entire Prey series, you pick up little things you may have missed or look forward to the scenes & dialog that you remember. Either way, while waiting for the NEXT prey novel I enjoy a revisit to Minneapolis any time.

Winter Prey has a good plot line of its own to keep your interest, but this is the one where Lucas meets Weather. It adds to his back story and gives you more insight to Lucas' personal life.

Many ... he is a wonderful narrator, and for me ... he IS Lucas Davenport. He delivers Lucas' lines exactly how I expect them to be spoken.

Lucas gets shot, in the throat ... he can't breathe ... can Weather step in, in time ...

Everyone should add the Prey series to their wish lists.

Plum Island is easily repeated; like a good movie, you catch little extras in dialog & character development that you might have missed the 1st time around.

Who else but our wise-cracking hero, Det. John Corey. He is our "Everyman". A working stiff, recovering at his Uncle's L.I. beachfront home from gunshot wounds received in the line of duty, and gets roped into helping the local cops with an unusual homicide. Determined to get to the bottom of a twisted mystery, he's relentless, irreverent ... and right!

Scott Brick IS the voice of John Corey, giving a perfect inflection & tone that you just KNOW our detective would have.

It made me want to listen to more about Det. Corey ... and it also made me want to learn more about Plum Island, the USDA labs there & their effects all along the east coast ... who knew what was going on out there? Not to mention Capt. Kidd, his treasure ... and the wineries of Long Island ... if only to bring home a souvenier corkscrew that says, " ... I got screwed on the No. Fork!"

Nelson DeMille and John Corey should be on everybodies wish lists!

Easily top 2 or 3. Lucas Davenport, John Corey & Jack Reacher are always 1-2-3!

Edge of my seat ... and standing up! Clever, convoluted plot ... strangers on a train ... and WHO is Loverboy?!

Richard Ferrone IS the voice of Lucas Davenport. I think he must enjoy reading them as much as we enjoy listening.

Lucas hanging on to all he holds dear ... while his guns are calling him from the basement.

This is a tremendous series that everyone should add to their wish lists.

I think once was enough for me.

It's not a typical mystery thriller with a current or on-going murder spree. This tells the story in current time, unravelling the mysteries at an archeological dig; and then back in time, as the events were happening at Andersonville.

... Weeelll, she was a little toooo sloooow to listen too. She had such a slow southern drawl that you could lose track of the story line as she was getting to the end of a sentence. The story would have been just as powerful, just as suspenceful if she had stepped up the pace a bit ... y'all.

Not extreme, but it made me look up some factual info on the actual Andersonville and read more about the Civil War in general.

Strong women have always wanted to contribute to military service any way they could, even if it meant disguising themselves to do it. I think they were brave precursors to the WACS & WAVES of WWII.

If you enjoy non-stop action, life & death situations and plenty of high-tech gizmos ... not to mention a very capable little robot, this is the next book for you.

The idea that we can put the past behind us, that even sworn-enemies can put aside differences for the greater good ... if only it worked in real life.

This is my 1st of his.

It helped the continuity as they were racing from room to room on island to island if you could listen in a block.

It was a great listen for a road trip, I just kept finding myself hitting the gas pedal a little too hard. "... honest officer, I wasn't speeding. The Scarcrow just had to get back in time to save Mother and the world!"

Not having read the print to compare, I can't say; but the audio 1st chapter really hooked me.

A good detective or suspense novel beginning.

It was well read, with a good tone that for me, really matched the author's intention.

Something about the natural beauty of the national park contrasted with the stark ugliness of a brutal murder.

I like to try new authors & free 1st chapters are a wonderful way to sample. I'll give anybody a try.

It just didn't grab my attention.

Didn't peak my curiosity.

Disappointment, I guess.
