I just finished listening to a book called "The Help" and didn't think any other book would compare, but I have to say that Tara Road was an excellent story. I felt connected to every single character in the book and loved the story. This was the first book I've heard by this author, but plan to do anther right now!
The narration, the story and characters you could really relate to.
Without giving the end of the story away, I think what happens at the end, and the last thing that is said.
His narration was excellent. Every character had a different voice and they seemed very real.
Ben of course because this was his story from beginning to end.
I am an avid reader & listener of books. Some are bad, some ok, some good and a very few are exceptional. This one was exceptional. I did not want it to end.
I listen to audio books almost every night, some good, some not so good, but this one was EXCELLENT. The people doing the reading drew me into the story from the first few words. I could feel what the characters were feeling. I could hear it in their voices and their words. This writer has done a great job in making me want to read anything else that she writes if it's on par with this book. I think this book would work as an audio book better than if you were to read it as it may become confusing with all the switching around, but as an audio book it takes the prize. It's moving almost up to the top of my best reads ever, and there are thousands of them! Read it, you won't be disappointed! As long as it was, I am very sorry it ended. I want to know more....maybe she will continue their stories as there is still a lot to tell.
Up until now I was a huge Wally Lamb fan. "She's Come Undone" and "I Know This Much is True" were both books I could not put down, and I was waiting very anxiously for another of Mr. Lamb's books to be published. When I saw his latest on audible I had to get it, but from the start all it is is DEPRESSING, and when you think it can't get more depressing, it gets more depressing. Who needs to write this let alone who wants to read it. I am very disappointed with it, and as much I've tried, I cannot finish listening to it. I just don't get why everyone thinks it is such a wonderful book...I also didn't like the narrator...he had one voice for everyone...and it was dull and boring. This is actually the first book out of tons of books I've listened to on audible that I didn't like, and I didn't like the narration. I'm extremely disappointed.
but, this is not the best book of the 8 so far. I couldn't put down the other 7, read them rather than listened to them, but this one is not quite up to par as far as being as interesting. Contrary to what some others have said, I think the narrator is quite good, much better than a lot of them on other books I have listened to lately. Since this book, #8 in the series, is not going to be released until March I was thrilled you had it here on audible.com.
