"I am glad that I read this book"
Sure, a couple of years from now.
Yes, it was actually rather unpredictable. It was nice to have a Quality book that I didn't want to stop reading after all the other turkeys I have read recently.
I got a few laughs out of it.
Michael Connelly seems to be able to come up with fresh stories every book. I have been disappointed by several of my favorite authors recently (Tom Clancy, James Patterson, Nelson Demille) , but Connelly and and few others (John Sandford, Ken Follett, Vince Flynn) are still putting out 4 and 5 star books.
"OK if you have some time to kill"
Though his books are hit and miss these days, I will usually give them a try.
It was just OK. Nothing special, but maybe a good book for a long drive.
"A Clancy novel that was easy to read."
Lately, I have to read Clancy books twice to be able to follow it. This book had fewer characters to try to follow.
While this book didn't have the magic of his earlier books, it was still an interesting book.
"Good message, but not enough for a book."
The message is very good, but the message is repeated over and over for 6 hours.
No
"Had potential, but fizzled"
Parts were very interesting involving the political realities of the day. But other parts just dragged on.
Possibly
Unsure
No
The narration was a little odd. There were no separations between scenes. It could be a full minute before you could figure out that the book had switched to a different scene with different characters.
"21 hours of my life I will never get back"
A different book. There is no way to save this turkey.
Absolutely, he is one of my favorite authors. I am hoping this book was just a fluke.
Serious disappointment. I have read all of his other books and loved them. It is hard to believe that DeMille actually wrote this.
If you fall asleep at night listening to this book and miss 8 hours of it, don't worry. You probably didn't miss anything. Seriously, nothing happens for hours at a time. This could have been a 30 minute book.
"Just a bunch of porn and violence"
It has high ratings, so somebody must have liked it
Paying for it
Nope
I quit reading this garbage about halfway through.
"The narrator make listening a chore"
It is a good history
Not if he read the same way. He finishes every sentence at a whisper. You can have the volume uncomfortably loud so you can hear the whole sentence, or strain to hear the end of the sentence at normal volume.
"Can't fight karma"
After about the first third of the book, I did listen to it in a sitting.
I bought this book based on the high ratings. I had my doubts when it started, but loved it by the end. I did not know until after I finished the book that he is the author of "Sunflower" which I read and loved years ago.
"Be patient, it gets better"
I was lost in the first 4 hours of this book, and almost stopped reading it. I am 8 hours into it now and give it a 4.5. Lots of characters to try to remember, but I am hooked into the story now. It would be nice if it came with a text file of the players. To me, it is much better that the last book. I will update when I get to the end.
