I was hoping a little humor would be woven into the story to blunt the nauseating excess. No luck. It's ok to be fabulously wealthy, but these people were mean, shallow and conniving. The book gave me a very uncomfortable feeling and I had to turn it off.
She has this great ability to see people's memories and hasn't used it once. This is stupid.
Just plain loved it. I was disappointed when it came to an end. Good use of credit.
Although I am not LDS (I was raised Catholic), I live in Utah and have many LDS friends. I've been to church a couple times and we love having the missionaries over. Although I have no desire to "become a member" I thought this book would bring up interesting questions to pose to friends and missionaries. Nope. After listening to this book I still can't figure out how she thought the Book of Mormon was untrue after reading the New Testament. I asked my friends about the paranoia she had wearing a cross on a necklace and they all laughed.
What a great job to have. I liked how the guides respected the animals. I would love to know more about Mr. Allison's adventures or have him as my guide on an African safari.
I usually look forward to Iris Johansen's books and the character of the strong, independent Catherine Ling is great. Everything was going well until the telepathic visits started. That shifted the whole story from really cool to silly woo woo. I haven't even finished it and don't think I will.
I'll start by saying that I love Judith Martin! Her razor sharp assessment and response to each situation is as pointed and entertaining as ever. Ironically, this audiobook about professionalism isn't done very professionally. I love the narrator as well, but she rereads parts that she obviously expected to be edited out and weren't. At first I thought I was inadvertently pressing the rewind button. Once I figured out what was actually going on it was somewhat amusing, but I am surprised the book slipped past the editors and was published in this form. Not to worry though, it was still worth the credit.
I really enjoyed this book! I am very much looking forward to the rest of the series. Write quickly Janet and Lee!
Great teaser! These characters have such great potential and I hope this turns into a series.
There were too many characters to keep straight. Maybe that says more about me than the book. Hmmmmmm..... By the last two hours I didn't really care how it ended.
