"Good Plot. Great Narrator!!"
This is the second book that I have read in the series and I am really enjoying the series. The storyline has enough plot and ghastly happenings, there is action and dry humour and the narrator is really one of the best I have come across. I have already downloaded the next 2 books and am looking forward to spending some quiet time enjoying them!!!
"Brilliant!!"
Bryce Courtenay's storyline and Humphrey Bower's narration of this book was incredible. I thoroughly enjoyed this and found the length gave me time to get emotionally involved with the characters. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves Australian history and Courtenay's writing. Simply brilliant!!
"Excellent Series"
This third book is a good continuation of the story between Raphael and Elena. The story line is excellent and the performance is excellent. The narrator has done an excellent job in this series and I think I prefer the audio edition immensely. Justine Eyre is excellent and it is because of her that I would prefer the audio edition over the print version anytime.
The plot and narrator add to the story and provide an added dimension that needs to be experienced!
Justine Eyre has added a richness to the characters that I would not have experienced in just reading the book.
I have read a lot of fantasy and paranormal romance series. I have found this series particularly enjoyable.
"Loved it!!"
I read a lot of Nora Roberts and I find them all good. However, once in a while, one of her books really gets to me. This is one of those. I loved the characters, the storyline and the narrator. Ahhhhh.... Next Nora Roberts book please!!
"Thoroughly enjoyable!!"
I love long novels. That was part of the reason I picked this one. I found it thoroughly enjoyable. At first, it seemed to be tediously long and I was a bit confused with the different characters and different periods. But, once I got the hang of it, I enjoyed both the storyline, the different generations overlapped with each other and I found the narrator, Caroline Lee very good. The mystery of the story kept me going and I must say that I enjoyed the last part of the book immensely.
"Great Series!!"
I was going overseas and was looking for a series that would keep me occupied while I was away. I thoroughly enjoyed the series. I downloaded the first 4 books realising that it would have ended the story and so enjoyed it that, when I returned, I downloaded the last book, Fortune and Fate, and was again really pleased with it. The plot was great, the characters really well developed and having the different readers, while disconcerting at first, didn't cause any problems as the different parts of the book was related from different characters. I well recommend this series as a great listen. Enjoyable, interesting, lots of action, some romance, what more could one ask for?
"Enjoyable thriller!"
I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book. Okay, the narrator was so-so, but the storyline was interesting and the plot had quite a few twists that kept my interest up. Having a legal background, I particularly enjoyed the court banter, the investigation and the twists in the end. In fact, it got so interesting, I found it hard to stop listening and had to find out what was going on. I also liked the constant banter between Harry Bosch and Mickey Haller. Great stuff!!
"Good thriller, interesting plot"
I have read Connelly before but this is the first of his audio books that I have listened to. I enjoyed the narration by Len Cariou and the saxaphone interlude!! I thought it was a good thriller, good plot and I like Harry Bosch. Listening to this rather than reading it made it feel like I was watching an old detective series! Will listen to more of Connelly's audiobooks!!
"The secret is out!"
I am still enjoying this series and its good to finally know who John Taylor's mother is!! Normally, a long series tends to get tired, but I'm finding that the plots are still interesting and its nice to have a familiarity in the characters and watching them develop.
I find the narrator in this series to be excellent and I'll be getting the rest of the series.
"Escapism - Fun and Furious!"
I really enjoyed the first book of this series and was certainly not disappointed with the story and the narrator. The time passed really fast and I couldn't stop listening to what was happening to John Taylor in the "Nightside". I've already downloaded Book 2 and can't wait!!!
