Listening to audiobooks is a guilty pleasure. I travel a lot so listen to about four per monthly. Biographies are a favorite.

Louisa Clark is an ordinary girl living an exceedingly ordinary life - steady boyfriend, close family - who has never been farther afield than her tiny village. She takes a badly needed job working for ex-Master of the Universe Will Traynor, who is wheelchair bound after an accident. Will has always lived a huge life - big deals, extreme sports, worldwide travel - and now he's pretty sure he cannot live the way he is. Will is acerbic, moody, bossy - but Lou refuses to treat him with kid gloves, and soon his happiness means more to her than she expected.

What made the experience of listening to Me Before You the most enjoyable?

Unique story. It's been a long time since an audio book choked me up (last time was The Fault in Our Stars)

Who was your favorite character and why?

Protagonist. I found myself rooting for her.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes - I finished this one quickly and found myself looking forward to the time I could plug it back in.

    Any additional comments?

As much as my sentimental self was rooting for the sappy ending, this ending was perfect.

Summer, 1979: A dry, hot Northern California school vacation stretches before Rachel and her younger sister, Patty - the daughters of a larger-than-life, irresistibly handsome (and chronically unfaithful) detective father and the mother whose heart he broke. When we first meet her, Patty is 11 - a gangly kid who loves basketball and dogs and would do anything for her older sister, Rachel.

Would you listen to After Her again? Why?

Probably not even though I thought it was compelling. Since it's a murder mystery of sorts I wouldn't listen again because the suspense would be gone.

What about Joyce Maynard’s performance did you like?

Excellent reader. One of my favorite books is her autobiography of her time with JD Salinger - don't think it's on audio, though. Such a sad story as she loves her sister and father so much - I think she did a great job of pushing this message through her voice and storytelling.

    Any additional comments?

Would have given it five stars except the ending seemed a bit abrupt and too "tidy" - was hoping for something a bit more exciting or suspenseful, but overall great listen.

Grace Stanton’s life as a rising media star and beloved lifestyle blogger takes a surprising turn when she catches her husband cheating and torpedoes his pricey sports car straight into the family swimming pool. Grace suddenly finds herself locked out of her palatial home, checking account, and even the blog she has worked so hard to develop in her signature style. Moving in with her widowed mother, who owns and lives above a rundown beach bar called The Sandbox, is less than ideal. So is attending court-mandated weekly "divorce recovery" therapy sessions with three other women and one man for whom betrayal seems to be the only commonality. When their “divorce coach” starts to act suspiciously, they decide to start having their own Wednesday "Ladies' Night" sessions at The Sandbox, and the unanticipated bonds that develop lead the members of the group to try and find closure in ways they never imagined. Can Grace figure out a new way home and discover how strong she needs to be to get there?

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

This is a good book to listen to if you want to shut off your brain and clean your house or do other mindless activities.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Characters, especially male, one dimensional. Didn't like the beginning at all - so frustrating. You know she'll overcome and awful cheating husband will "get his," so to speak, but...

Which character – as performed by Kathleen McInerney – was your favorite?

The protagonist, Grace. No characters are that interesting.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

It's a Lifetime made for type story - probably not.

    Any additional comments?

    Was hoping for more "fun"

Lottie just knows that her boyfriend is going to propose during lunch at one of London’s fanciest restaurants. But when his big question involves a trip abroad, not a trip down the aisle, she’s completely crushed. So when Ben, an old flame, calls her out of the blue and reminds Lottie of their pact to get married if they were both still single at 30, she jumps at the chance. No formal dates - just a quick march to the altar and a honeymoon on Ikonos, the sun-drenched Greek island where they first met years ago. Their family and friends are horrified. Fliss, Lottie’s older sister, knows that Lottie can be impulsive - but surely this is her worst decision yet.

What did you like best about Wedding Night? What did you like least?

I love Sophie Kinsella - fluffy but very funny protagonists. This story felt forced.

Would you recommend Wedding Night to your friends? Why or why not?

Not really - it was probably my least favorite by the author. That being said, it was listenable - is that a word?

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

    Yes

Could you see Wedding Night being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

A TV movie on Lifetime, maybe. Definitely NOT Isla Fisher, who starred in terrible Shopaholic movie.

What did you love best about Thirteen Reasons Why?

Unique story - written from the "grave" by dead teenager

What did you like best about this story?

I think that I liked the uniqueness of idea. Sad, though. I think that even though you know the end...it still has a component of mystery.

What does Debra Wiseman and Joel Johnstone bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Hmmm, interesting question. Maybe a male/female perspective? I felt sorry for the guy in the story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The guy listening to the tapes. Felt very bad for him. Wished the entire time that it would end differently.

Where does I Still Dream About You rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It ranks high - it's one of those "enjoy-while-I listen-but-kind-of-forget-about-the-details-shortly-after" type book, though.

What was one of the most memorable moments of I Still Dream About You?

Like I said...I'm reviewing this about two weeks post listen and I can't remember a lot - that doesn't necessarily reflect the book - maybe me???

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes - enjoyed - easy listening and like her as a narrator. It's kind of like a soft listen if that makes sense.

What was most disappointing about Liane Moriarty’s story?

Nothing special happened. Kind of a lame story line.

What three words best describe Tamara Lovatt-Smith’s performance?

    solid, appropriate, enjoyable

Given the importance of what they do, and the controversies that often surround them, and the violent people they sometimes confront, it is remarkable that in the history of this country only four active federal judges have been murdered. Judge Raymond Fawcett has just become number five.... Nothing is as it seems and everything’s fair game in this wickedly clever new novel from John Grisham, the undisputed master of the legal thriller.

Great protagonist. Rooted for him the entire time. One of John Grisham's best IMHO.

Where does Every Last One rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    Extremely high

What other book might you compare Every Last One to and why?

Love Anna Quinlan. Another favorite is Elizabeth Berg. Both tackle tough emotional subjects without over sentimentality and are able to focus on the faith and strength of the human spirit.

Have you listened to any of Hope Davis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Hope Davis is an excellent reader.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Wow - so many. I think when I realized what happened to her family. I thought it was revealed in a particularly compelling way.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I'm not a huge Nora Roberts fan as much of her stuff blends together for me. This was an interesting story. Glad it didn't go down the road I thought it might.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

It really did and like I said, glad it went down a different road than the one I expected.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I really felt I could "see" her home nestled in the woods. Tough to say one scene. I liked the protagonist, Abigail.
