I am a fan of Stephen King, so I enjoy hearing his voice for this work. I'm not a great student of writing books, but I do write. As writing books go, I like the earlier portions relating to life and experience but as it gets more or less technical, I don't know that I could rate it beyond average. But then, I've not read any I loved yet.
This is truly wonderful and insightful. Specially if the reader/listener is interested in walking with God and not so interested in fixing systems. Answers excellent questions with direction into God and not into the 'fix'. I found it very good, and have recommended it and given it as gifts. I thank God and the authors for a timely sound.
I'm thankful Helene and members of her family are here to share their story. I am thankful that Eunice lives, with love surrounding her. I'm thankful Helene truly is an American story come in a strangely wonderful circle of hope escaping or triumphing through pain. I'm thankful to discover Liberia, our corporate homeland. Thank you, Helene for sharing your memoir with us.
One of my very favorite books. Audio, print, '84 movie. Most Excellent.
I really like Dean Koontz's writing. This one was not as rich as I'm use to. I'm heading back to ODD country.
Hey, but I actually got some encouragement from this volume and will continue to ingest as much as I can. Earlier portions were more palatable for me. As I continued into mid-chapters it began to get a little 'speaking-in-tongues' for me to grasp. I will keep trying because my brain is plastic!
I really enjoyed this volume but not as much as John Adams. Not that 1776 was ill treated, but that John Adams has so much more, more, more of everything. I listened to John Adams and had to get the book and am now reading it. The audio of 1776 will be enough. But I sure enjoy listening to David McCullough and will listen again.
It is the NIV but the reader is a bit distracting after a while. It is difficult enough trying to not add my own tone of voice to Scripture, I don't need it done for me. I'll keep looking.
I enjoyed this volume on several levels. The suspense and character development, but also as an artist. This was an intensly wonderful listen! Will listen again.
I don't consider myself a true history buff, but this work has awakened this in me. I understand more how a book wins the Pulitzer! I love the audio, and I also bought the book!
