Paksenarrion, once a sheepfarmer's daughter, now a veteran warrior, meets new challenges as she breaks up a robber gang, dispells an ancient evil possessing an elvish shrine and is accepted for training at an academy for knights. Clearly, a high destiny awaits her.

Would you listen to Divided Allegiance again? Why?

I have read the story before and enjoyed it again the second time around, years later.

    Any additional comments?

Van Dyck is a good narrator. Not great, but good. Nobody can compare to George Guidall and obviously this story needs a female narrator so the comparison is unjust. Just a bit over the top as far as theatricality at first, but perfectly fine after getting used to her style.

Acclaimed author Daniel Abraham’s works have been nominated for the Hugo Award and the World Fantasy Award. In this compelling follow-up to The Dragon’s Path, Geder Palliako enjoys high social standing as protector to the crown prince of Antea - but a looming war threatens to change his way of life. Meanwhile, Cithrin bel Sarcour is counting her blessings: long under close surveillance, she hopes a battle will be the opportunity she needs to regain her freedom.

I am enjoying this series very much. One of the main characters is such a sad character and such an idiot and so naive, it is hard to believe that a series of books, a really good series of books, is centered in large part on his actions.

Popular author Daniel Abraham’s works have been nominated for the Hugo Award and the World Fantasy Award. In The Dragon’s Path, former soldier Marcus is now a mercenary—but he wants nothing to do with the coming war. So instead of fighting, he elects to guard a caravan carrying the wealth of a nation out of the war zone—with the assistance of an unusual orphan girl named Cithrin.

For reasons I cannot explain, I am not getting into the political intrigue. However, I especially like the main characters. Starts a little slow, but picks up and is worth the wait.

All is not well in the Eight Kingdoms. In Lyonya, King Kieri is about to celebrate marriage to his beloved, the half-elf Arian. But uncanny whispers from the spirits of his ancestors continue to warn of treachery and murder. A finger of suspicion has been pointed toward his grandmother, the queen of the Ladysforest elves, and that suspicion has only intensified with time and the Lady’s inexplicable behavior.

    Story

If you like the earlier books, you will like this one a well. It is going to sound strange, given the horrendous things that happen to some characters, but the goody-goody-ness is a bit much. Everyone is too... good or too evil. The tone is annoying at times. I know Arvid is caught in between but even he is too good.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy this series, but it is a not of the caliber of Brian Sanderson's Mistborn series. J.V. does a good job as narrator, too.

Given the importance of what they do, and the controversies that often surround them, and the violent people they sometimes confront, it is remarkable that in the history of this country only four active federal judges have been murdered. Judge Raymond Fawcett has just become number five.... Nothing is as it seems and everything’s fair game in this wickedly clever new novel from John Grisham, the undisputed master of the legal thriller.

The story is vintage Grisham and I enjoyed listening to it. However, in the end, I felt it was short. I think Grisham could have done more with it. Probably unfair of me to say so as the story had plenty of characters and twists and turns. So, I am not sure why I am saying so. The narrator was not the cause of my minor dissatisfaction, he did his job well.
