Alexia Tarabotti, Lady Maccon, has settled into domestic bliss. Of course, being Alexia, such bliss involves integrating werewolves into London High society, living in a vampire's second best closet, and coping with a precocious toddler who is prone to turning supernatural willy-nilly. Even Ivy Tunstell's acting troupe's latest play, disastrous to say the least, cannot put a damper on Alexia's enjoyment of her new London lifestyle.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Previously I had said Lord Maccon, but little Prudence provides some competition for my heart in this one.

    Any additional comments?

The author had me crying for about an hour and I almost didn't like her for it. In the end I would say it's safe to like her now! This is my favorite book series ever; I cannot wait for the Prudence series.

Would you be willing to try another one of Phoebe Simon’s performances?

No, I had downloaded this book and quickly moved onto another one without really listening to it until today. I started listening again because I couldn't remember why I'd stopped - not even 5 minutes into the story I remembered - the narrator sucks. I couldn't get past the narration to even listen to the story.

Deep in the stacks of Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library.

Jennifer Ikeda is a great narrator, she really brings the story to life!

When 15-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder - much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing, not even a smear of blood, to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

What didn’t you like about Ari Graynor’s performance?

I am about 3 hours into this book and while the content is intersting, the narration takes SOO much away from it. I am finding it so hard to get involved in the story, because the narrator delivers the lines all wrong and is monotone half of the time. I can't wait to get through this book and onto the second one, just so I can hear a new narrator!!

  • Soulless: An Alexia Tarabotti Novel

Victorian romance mixes seamlessly with elegant prose and biting wit—and werewolves—in Gail Carriger’s delightful debut novel. Soulless introduces Alexia Tarabotti, a parasol-wielding Londoner getting dangerously close to spinster status. But there are more important things than finding a husband. For Alexia was born without a soul, giving her the ability to render any vampire or werewolf completely powerless.

If you could sum up Soulless in three words, what would they be?

    Witty, Fun, Exciting

What other book might you compare Soulless to and why?

I don't think I've read a book like Soulless before.

Which character – as performed by Emily Gray – was your favorite?

    Lord Connel McCon.

    Any additional comments?

I loved this book! It was funny and exciting, had a bit of mystery, and a romance to boot! I don't normally like things set too far in the past, but this book was awesome. The narrator was awesome too! Every time I think of Miss. Tarabotti, I hear her voice. I definitely reccomend this book!
