I read the book when it first came out and I found it to be a great story. The audio performance was great, but the story was very long winded. I realized that when I read the book I had edited the book as I read (I skipped parts). I think the abriged version would be fantastic, but the unabridged is just to bogged down with details that I felt did not enhance the story.

I enjoyed this book very much. I like the fact that the hero of the book is a woman. It is a nice departure. I also enjoyed the combat veteran angle for the sheriff and how it shaped her actions and reactions to the dead rising.

In a steel-and-lead-encased bunker 20 feet below the basement level of his house, a soldier waits for his final orders. On the surface, a plague ravages the planet, infecting over 90% of the populace. The bacterium burrows through the brain, destroying all signs of humanity and leaving behind little more than base, prehistoric instincts. The infected turn into hyper-aggressive predators, with an insatiable desire to kill and feed. Someday soon, the soldier will have to open the hatch to his bunker, and step out into this new wasteland, to complete his mission....

Where does The Remaining rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would say this book is right up there with others that I have read. I really liked the way the main character is introduced and his "mission". Nice twist on a often written about subject.

What about Christian Rummel’s performance did you like?

Christian Rummels performance was first rate. I would listen to him again.

    Any additional comments?

I have only read the first book in this series, but I am looking forward to the rest. I even got my wife hooked while taking a road trip.

What made the experience of listening to No Easy Hope the most enjoyable?

The story is great, if I were reading the book I would not be able to put it down.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

The narrator is very clincal. Some times I felt like I was listening to a text book.

    Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the story so much that I was able to get past the narration. I recommend the

The cozy little town of Pine Deep buried the horrors of its past a long time ago. Thirty years have gone by since the darkness descended and the Black Harvest began, a time when a serial killer sheared a bloody swath through the quiet Pennsylvania village. The evil that once coursed through Pine Deep has been replaced by cheerful tourists getting ready to enjoy the country’s largest Halloween celebration in what is now called “The Spookiest Town in America.”

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Great book, love the characters, love the story, love the whole trilogy.

    Any additional comments?

I have a long daily commute and Audible has been a God send. I accidently came across Maberry's books and I am hooked! I really enjoyed this trilogy. All 3 of the books are great and I have to say I was disappointed when I heard "Audible hopes you have enjoyed......." on Bad Moon Rising. Maberry's Joe Ledger series is great too! Sadly I have listened to everything of his that Audible has and now have to wait for the next one.
