Is IQ destiny? Not nearly as much as we think. This fascinating and persuasive program argues that our view of human intelligence is far too narrow, ignoring a crucial range of abilities - emotional intelligence - that matter immensely in terms of how we do in life.

    "Great book, terrible reading"
    Overall

We all know the book is great. I got lost in listening to the book. I get this is psycho stuff, but my word, I don't know that anything could put me more to sleep. How on earth they were able to maintain a monotone throughout the book is beyond me.

I know we all need the content of this book, good luck listening!!

Jamie Fraser knows from his time-traveling wife Claire that, no matter how unlikely it seems, America will win the Revolutionary War. But that truth offers little solace, since Jamie realizes he might find himself pointing a weapon directly at his own son - a young officer in the British army. And Jamie isn't the only one with a tormented soul - for Claire may know who wins the conflict, but she certainly doesn't know whether or not her beloved Jamie survives.

What made the experience of listening to An Echo in the Bone the most enjoyable?

The consistency of the story, the thread of characters and twist through what may or may not have happened in the past. I am really eager for the next book, I would love to see what happens with the little one….. without giving the story line away

What does Davina Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I think the match between the author and Davina is PERFECT. I think it sooo wise to retain Davita, she has so got into the characters, is consistent in tone, un-written interpretations. I love listening to her!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I have listened to this series end to end 3 times now..... yeah, ok I'm an addict.... I really like the story.

The year is 1771. Claire Randall is still an outlander, out of place and out of time. But now she is linked by love to her only anchor: Jamie Fraser. They have crossed oceans and centuries to build a life together in North Carolina. But tensions, both ancient and recent, threaten members of their clan. Knowing that his wife has the gift of prophecy, James must believe Claire, though he would prefer not to. Claire has shared a dreadful truth: there will, without a doubt, be a war.

A Breath of Snow and Ashes continues the saga of 18th-century Scotsman Jamie Fraser and his 20th-century, time-traveling wife, Claire. The year is 1772, and the rift between Britain and its American colonies has put a frightening word into the minds of all concerned: revolution. In the backwoods of North Carolina, violence has already reared its ugly head, as cabins have been burned to the ground. To preserve the colony for King George III, the governor pleads with Jamie to bring the people together and restore peace. But Jamie has the burden of knowing that war cannot be avoided.

What did you love best about Mockingjay?

It is a simple story that allows you to become part of it. There are soooo many

Would you recommend Mockingjay to your friends? Why or why not?

We did not like the end of the trilogy though.... there was so much detail in the life of the people in the book. it was like the end was rushed, some pieces did not come together nicely or make a lot of sense.

Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

With more than 10 million copies in print worldwide, New York Times best-selling author Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series is a global phenomenon. Lord John and the Private Matter, starring one of the most popular Outlander characters, captures all the adventure and magic of the series while delivering a fresh tale that is utterly captivating.

Would you try another book from Diana Gabaldon and/or Jeff Woodman?

The John Story is a massive deviation from the Outlander series / journey. The stories, although using the same names, really does not do the original stories justice. This should be advertised as a separate story completely, and not be leveraging the Outlander name. This may be your “cup of tea”, just know it is vastly different.

What was most disappointing about Diana Gabaldon’s story?

It had next to nothing to do with the Outlander series

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jeff Woodman?

I was not ready for the tone of the book. I have listened to the entire series 3 times. I think this is more a personal experience than anything the narrator contributed.
