When the world was young, and its name was Faerie, the power of magic ruled - and the Elfstones warded the race of Elves and their lands, keeping evil at bay. But when an Elven girl fell hopelessly in love with a Darkling boy of the Void, he carried away more than her heart. Thousands of years later, tumultuous times are upon the world now known as the Four Lands. Users of magic are in conflict with proponents of science. Elves have distanced their society from the other races. The Druid order is threatened.

    Story

I was slightly disappointed with this book. I love Terry Brooks' work; however, this one seemed to me to be really slow and lacking some of the storyline detail and finesse I have come to expect from Terry's work. It just seems a little too simplistic and predictable. I will reserve judgment of the overall story until I listen to part two. Also, although Rosalyn did a good job, it was difficult at times to tell the characters apart.

Five hundred years have passed since the devastating demon-led war that tore apart the United States, leaving nothing but scorched and poisoned ruins, and nearly exterminating humankind. Those who escaped the carnage and blight were led to sanctuary by the boy savior known as the Hawk - the gypsy morph. In an idyllic valley, its borders warded by powerful magic against the horrors beyond, humans, Elves, and mutants alike found a place they believed would be their home forever.

I was very much enjoying this book, right up until the point in the story that a juvenile female is being systematically beaten and tortured - repeatedly. It turned my stomach, and the revulsion stayed with me for days. I cannot finish the story, and never will. I really was shocked to discover this brutality in Terry Brooks' series. I am so disappointed.

Welcome to the crossover event fans have been waiting for: Joanne Walker and Jane Yellowrock meet in a world not quite like either of their own, where they must find and defeat the magic that brought them there - or they just might find themselves...easy pickings!

I have been an avid listener of the Jane Yellow Rock series, but after listening to this combination of supernatural crimefighters, I have bought the C.E. Murphy series, too, and I am looking forward to getting to know JoAnne better. Thanks, Faith Hunter and C.E. Murphy, for doing this combination story. And the narrators did a great job of bringing the characters together. The only reason I subtracted a star is for the audio, which was bad. Khristine Hvam was much louder than Gabra Zackman, and it made for difficult listening, as one was always either too quiet or too loud.

This story kept me on the edge of my seat, biting my nails through the entire story! Faith Hunter pulled out all the stops in this gripping addition to the Jane Yellow Rock series. Wow! And Khristine Hvam did her usual awesome job of bringing the characters to life, giving them incredible personality and emotion in her narration. If you love vampire stories, and you have never listened to the Jane Yellow Rock series, you have no idea what you are missing out on!!! But I highly recommend that you buy Skinwalker, the first story in the series, and get started today!!!

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, doesn’t care much for witches. Still, he’s about to make nice with the local coven by signing a mutually beneficial nonaggression treaty when suddenly the witch population in modern-day Tempe, Arizona, quadruples overnight. And the new girls are not just bad, they’re badasses with a dark history on the German side of World War II. With a fallen angel feasting on local high school students, a horde of Bacchants blowing in from Vegas, and a dangerously sexy Celtic goddess of fire vying for his attention, Atticus is having trouble scheduling the witch hunt.

I just love the Iron Druid series. It is witty, and keeps me laughing, especially Oberon's comments. Luke Daniels really brings him to life. I love the interplay with the pantheons, and I appreciate Atticus' views of religion. Overall, it is a really enjoyable series. Luke Daniels does an excellent job in the narration department.

I enjoyed this story. Lots of magic and action. Harry has too many guilt trips for me, though, and I could choke Murphy for always wanting to arrest everyone and drag them downtown behind bars for questioning. James Marsters does a good job of narration, but his quick inhalations hurt my ears sometimes. Still, I now own the next three audiobooks in this series, and I am looking forward to listening to them.

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

For the first time - in one Audible-exclusive collection - it's 13 stories of Jane Yellowrock, the shape-shifting skinwalker and vampire hunter for hire whose business card reads, "Have Stakes - Will Travel". Jane carries inside her the soul of her Beast, the mountain lion's soul which merged with hers when she accidently performed black magic as a child. Now, she and her Beast stalk the dark streets of New Orleans, bringing rogue vampires true death.

I so very much enjoyed listening to these stories. Many of them have been hinted of in other full-length stories, but some of them were little surprise side trips. All of them were awesome. And I loved hearing Faith Hunter's actual voice for the first time. And I would add my thanks to Khristine Hvam for bringing Jane, Bruiser, Leo, and all of the other characters to life.

I have just fallen in love with Drizzt. He is such an excellent character. There are so many books about Drizzt that it took me a while to find the beginning of the series; however, this is it. You have reached the beginning story. I especially love Drizzt's commentaries on life. Pretty sensitive, for a Drow! lol

If you are looking for a good fantasy series, with Elves, Dwarves, Humans, and all kinds of fantasy creatures, all wielding Magic, and with lots of action, you just can't go wrong with this series. It is the Motherlode. R A Salvatore has created so many excellent books about Drizzt and his companions that it is like an banquet. Victor Bevine does an excellent job of narrating, too. He brings the characters to life for me.
