"I admit it. i'm a huge Hiaasen fan"
i live in the northeast and sometimes, when it's cold and stormy outside, (which has been quite a bit lately) i call up one of my old audible recordings of one of his novels. they never disappoint and they brighten up the day.
"Well worth a credit"
I just wanted an easy read/listen when I chose this book and didn't expect much because the premise is pretty much off the wall. However Cooper pulls this off in an expert and agile way. I was surprised at almost every turn and never anticipated the final twist.
"for those who know what zork and a commodor 64 are"
i would never have thought that detailed description of playing classic games from the '70's and '80's could be the basis of an engaging and entertaining novel. it's a little long but a fine summer read none the less. i enjoyed it thorougly.
"a splendid story"
I haven't enjoyed a book this much in quite a while. It's southeast asian magical realism. both the magical part and the realistic part are exquisitely drawn. Better yet, I laughed out loud at some of the descriptions of bureaucratic foolishness. And it's a wonderful mystery to boot. Two mysteries, actually. I hope Audible audible records all of Cotterill's books
"ahhh. gabriel is back!"
i love this series. silva writes with such a sure tone. the characters have gotten richer with each successive book. the plots have gotten more complex and the revenge is sweeter than ever. thank you dan silva.
"perfect summer read - terrific narration"
i thoroughly enjoyed this book. Anne Heche's performance was pitch perfect and added a great deal to Chris Buckley's very funny book. "Read" it and laugh out loud.
"Jaw-dropping"
Freedom TM and its prequel, Daemon, are game changers for sci fi. They will have the same impact on the genre that Bill Gibson's Neuromancer did 25 years ago. A stunning achievement.
